11-run inning powers Mustangs to North Central League I win over Kelseyville

KELSEYVILLE >> Middletown High School’s junior varsity baseball team hauled out the lumber during a 25-11 shellacking of Kelseyville during a North Central League I game Friday afternoon in Kelseyville.

Down by as many as four runs, Middletown surged ahead 5-4 on a John Bostow triple and doubles by Diego Pimentel, Dillan Lewis and Colton Karp. The Mustangs put the game out of reach with an 11-run third inning, including a three-run double by Lewis (2-for-3, five RBIs).

A seven-run sixth inning put the finishing touches on the victory. Kolton Costlow and Fernando Ruiz swatted RBI singles, Pimentel had a two-run single, and Thadeus Montgomery forced home another run with a bases-loaded walk.

Lewis, Karp, Pimentel and Bostow finished with two hits apiece out of a team total of 13.

The win went to Bostow, who worked three innings, allowing 10 runs (two earned) on six hits. He struck out five.

Kelseyville statistics were not reported.

Middletown (1-1 league, 1-2 overall) is scheduled to host Willits on Friday at 4 p.m. Kelseyville (1-1, 1-2) is scheduled to play Tuesday at Lower Lake, weather permitting, at 4 p.m.
