Middletown’s Sisson drives on at Sugarloaf

Mustangs move atop CMC South golf standings with win at Sugarloaf in Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA >> Middletown’s David Sisson had the shot of the day as well as the low round as the Mustangs moved atop the Coastal Mountain Conference South golf standings Wednesday afternoon with a win at the par-63 Sugarloaf course, formerly Oakmont East, in Santa Rosa.

Middletown finished with 333, easily beating out Technology (371) and St. Helena (379). Sonoma Academy’s team was incomplete.

Sisson drove the green on the par-4, 290-yard 15th hole. His drive not only reached the green, but the far side, an estimated 300 yards away. He carded three birdies during a 6-over-par round of 69, easily the low round of the day. Teammate Grant McMillian had one birdie during a round of 76. Technology’s Sam O’Harrloran finished with 79.

Other low rounds went to St. Helena’s Nick Beck (84), Technology’s Devon Engebreth (87) and Middletown’s Jimmy Reynolds (91), who had one birdie.

Through two CMC South matches, Middletown has a 5-1 record. Sonoma Academy and Technology are tied at 3-3 and St. Helena is 1-5.

CMC South play resumes Wednesday at Foxtail South in Rohnert Park. Plays begins at 1:30 p.m.
