Former Mustangs star closes out SRJC career by winning state medal

SANTA ROSA >> Middletown High School alum David Sypnicki, a red-short sophomore at Santa Rosa Junior College, closed out his wrestling career with the Bearcubs by placing seventh in the 165-pound division at the 3C2A State Championships Friday and Saturday at Sierra College in Rocklin.
Sypnicki was making his second trip to the state championships with the Bearcubs, originally qualifying in 2023. He needed to place in the top eight this year to bring home a medal and the former Mustangs standings pinned his opponent in the seventh-place match.
Sypnicki plans to transfer to a four-year university to continue his academic pursuits and wrestling career.
