Fort Bragg beats Upper Lake 18-6 for third straight NCL I victory

UPPER LAKE >> No one has changed the trajectory of their season more in the past three weeks than the Fort Bragg Timberwolves, 18-6 winners over the Upper Lake Cougars on Friday night in Upper Lake
After losing their first three games of the season and scoring just six points in those three losses, the Timberwolves (3-1 league, 3-3 overall) have beaten Kelseyville, Lower Lake and Upper Lake in successive weeks to climb into a third-place tie in the NCL I standings.
Sawyer Schlafer rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown and also caught two passes for 22 yards as the Timberwolves kept Upper Lake (0-4, 0-6) winless on the season. Fort Bragg quarterback Dane Salo went 9-for-18 for 101 yards and a touchdown, that to Ross Knapp (five catches for 62 yards).
The Timberwolves, led by Schlafer, rushed for 198 yards. Erik Kamstra added 49yards on six carries while Beau Hebden had 35 yards on seven carries and Fort Bragg’s other touchdown.
Upper Lake scoring and statistics were not reported.
Fort Bragg also won the junior varsity game, 8-6.
Upper Lake’s teams travel to Cloverdale next Friday.
