NAPA >> Adrian Daguro-Mendoza’s interception sealed the win for the Northshore junior varsity youth football team in a thrilling 20-19 victory over Napa during Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League action Saturday in Napa.

Daguro-Mendoza also scored a touchdown and added the two-point conversion in the third quarter for the Cougars (2-0). Josiah Sneathen was Northshore’s workhorse on offense with 150 yards rushing and a touchdown, and Zachy Isaacson had a 6-yard TD run.

Northshore’s defense withstood a late drive by the Bulldogs to win the game.

“Our defense came up big in the last 2:47,” Northshore head coach Quetzal Mendoza said.

The Cougars beat Cloverdale 7-0 in their season opener Aug. 16.

Northshore has the weekend off before returning to action Sept. 6 in Middletown against the 2-0 Colts.
