UPPER LAKE >> The Lower Lake Trojans shut out the Upper Lake Cougars 8-0 in North Central League I varsity baseball action Tuesday afternoon in Upper Lake.
Leading 1-0 after two innings, the Trojans (4-7 league, 4-11 overall) scored four times in the top of the third, taking advantage of a handful of Upper Lake errors, both physical and mental, to build a 5-0 lead advantage.
“We were playing well, pitching well, but we had that one dreaded inning,” Upper Lake head coach Don Meri said.
Losing pitcher Tyler Collins worked five innings, allowing six runs on five hits. He struck out four and walked one. Collins also had two of the Cougars’ three hits while Landen Robinson had the other.
Sophomore first baseman Mason Parker turned in some solid glove work for the Cougars, according to Meri.
“He’s going to be a good one,” Meri said.
Upper Lake (0-12, 3-14) hosts Middletown on Friday before closing out its season Tuesday at Cloverdale.
Lower Lake did not report its games stats to Lake County Sports.
