KELSEYVILLE >> While the Kelseyville Knights had the offense to spare in a 10-1 win over the Middletown Mustangs on Friday in North Central League I junior varsity baseball action at Kelseyville, the team’s defense certainly stood out.
Kelseyville (7-0 league, 9-1 overall) turned a 3-4-5 double play while catcher Case Pivniska picked off a Middletown runner at first base to end the game.
“We had several good plays by our defense,” Kelseyville head coach Sean Navarro said.
Deake Lyndall, the middle man in the double play turned by the Knights, also reached base four times, including a pair of hits and runs scored. Kimo Brown, who applied the tag to complete the double play, smacked a triple and also reached base four times, and Ethan Wheeler, who initiated the double play, went 2-for-3.
Other Kelseyville leaders were Carson Stone, who tripled, and Jacob Amendola, who went 2-for-4 with a double.
Reese Johnson pitched five innings for the victory.
Kelseyville is on the road Tuesday to play St. Helena at 4 p.m.
