HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE >> Rolling to a 7-0 season record, the Middletown High School tennis team took care of its business again Tuesday, shutting out Anderson Valley 5-0 in Coastal Mountain Conference North action at the Hidden Valley Lake courts.
In singles play, Will Hoskins beat Wyatt Gatlin 6-1, 6-1 in first singles, Harrison Brown defeated Damian Eligio 6-4, 6-2 in second singles, and Anthony Lopez knocked off Guy Kephart 6-1, 6-4 in third singles.
“Will continues to be consistent all year and played like it,” Middletown head coach Tony Hart said. “Harrison had a good match with Damian and worked around a tough forehand and had a good strategy to win.”
Added Hart, “Anthony Lopez has also been consistent, and he continues to get better. He did not play last year because of baseball, and he switched back this year, and we are grateful.”
Middletown also won both doubles matches in straight sets.
Leland Pike and Jasiah Pike defeated Miguel Marron and Arturo Garcia 6-1, 6-4 in first doubles, and Nalu Johnson and Luis Pamatz were 6-0, 6-0 winners over Eddy Alvarez and Jose Lopez in second doubles.
“Leland and Jasiah are working better and becoming a solid force if they can get their first serve in consistently,” Hart said. “Nalu and Luis are holding down the second doubles and are 3-0 since losing to Kelseyville.”
Middletown hosts Fort Brag in a makeup match on Wednesday.
