PETALUMA >> Sonoma Academy, last in the Coastal Mountain Conference South golf standings entering play Wednesday at Rooster Run Golf Club in Petaluma, topped the field by a comfortable 12-shot margin on the par-72 course.
The Coyotes finished with 367 (the total of their four lowest individual scores) while St. Helena, which had won each of the first two CMC South matches this season, finished second with 379. Two-time defending conference champion Middletown came in third with 387 while Kelseyville and Technology both finished with 398. Kelseyville won the fifth-man tiebreak to take fourth.
Middletown’s Bodhi Moore had the low individual round for the third week in a row, firing an 8-over-par 80 that included two birdies. St. Helena’s Jack Robinson had the next-lowest round at 83 while John Berry and Eli Goldberg of Sonoma Academy carded 85 and 86, respectively.
Dilyan Lopez had the low round for Technology with 90 while Ethan Gambill had the low round for Kelseyville with 94.
“We did not have a great day on the course,” Kelseyville head coach Tim Conrad said. “We have not been able to get a practice in this week due to the weather and course conditions. It’s a struggle to keep our swings going without efficient practice time. We have a week off (before the next match), so there will be plenty of practice time for us.”
Gambill carded a birdie during his team-leading round for the Knights. Other Kelseyville scores had Mason Harmon at 97, Nate Sherman at 102, Adam Astrup at 105 and Caleb Lopez at 106.
Other Middletown scores besides Moore’s team-leading 80 featured a 95 by David Sisson, a 105 by Grant McMillian, and a 107 by Jimmy Reynolds.
St. Helena is 11-1 in the CMC South standings through the first three conference matches. Technology and Middletown are tied at 6-6, Sonoma Academy is 5-7, and Kelseyville is 2-10.
The CMC South teams are off until April 16 when they play at Foxtail South in Rohnert Park.
