LAKEPORT >> Dom Kerney scored 21 points on Monday to power the Terrace Middle School A boys basketball team past Obsidian Middle School 44-32 in league action at Lakeport.

Mano Garcia added 10 points and Erik Chavez added nine as Terrace improved to 5-2 in league play and 10-5 overall.

“It was an ugly win,” Terrace head coach Jeremy Hopkins said. “Our energy wasn’t where we needed it to be, but we fought through and got the win.”

Kerney got into foul trouble in the first quarter and had to leave the game. Obsidian took advantage of his absence and was able to stay close.

“Once Dom got back in, our offense looked much better,” Hopkins said. “These holiday games tend to get us out of our routine and take us out of our groove.”

Terrace returns to action Saturday in the Eagle Peak Tournament.
