WALNUT CREEK >> The Kelseyville Knights couldn’t find any offense Saturday in Walnut Creek, falling 2-0 to Berean Christian in non-league varsity boys soccer action and leaving the team still looking for its first win of the 2024-25 season.
“My team has a case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde this season,” Kelseyville head coach KC White said. “I don’t know which of those two is bad, but that’s the one that showed up today following our best performance of the season Tuesday.”
Berean Christian scored a goal in each half against the Knights (0-5-2).
“I was down two of my most valuable players today, unfortunately, but that is ultimately no excuse,” White said. “I have faith in every single guy on my team to go out and play hard, and effort is what was lacking today in everyone save a handful of them. I think that constantly traveling multiple hours to play soccer is taking its toll on us. With the winter break around the corner, hopefully we can reset.”
Kelseyville is playing all of its games on the road this season as its field undergoes renovations.
“A couple guys stood out to me today,” White said. “Yahir Rodriguez started slow this season, but has been aggressive, and one of the best players on the field the last two games. Jonathan (Nona) Gonzalez plays anywhere and everywhere. I needed him to play defense today because we were down a starter, and he didn’t get mad; he just did what his team needed. I wish I could find 11 Nonas to put out there.”
Kelseyville travels to American Canyon on Monday for a 7 p.m. game
