Middletown Middle School girls basketball registers pair of victories

MIDDLETOWN >> Trailing 15-14 at halftime, the Middletown Broncos went on a 13-2 run in the third quarter while going on to defeat the Terrace Middle School Vikings of Lakeport 37-22 in A-team girls basketball action Wednesday night in Middletown.

Middletown (2-0 league, 4-0 overall) outscored Terrace 23-7 in the second half.

“It was a hard-fought and very physical game tonight,” Middletown head coach Shannon Williams said. “Terrace has a very tough and talented team and Terrace’s Amelie Davis (10 points) is quite an amazing player. We had a hard time containing her. My girls had to dig deep and tighten up on both offense and defense.”

Emma Davis led the Broncos with 11 points and eight rebounds while Anaya Kilstrom added 10 points and seven rebounds. Alina Kilstrom had eight points.

Middletown hosts Mountain Vista of Kelseyville on Monday.

In B-team action Wednesday, Middletown beat Terrace 32-6 behind 34 team steals. Remmi Harbison led the Broncos with eight points, six steals and three rebounds while Katera Gotz and Sophia Perez each had six points and five steals.

“Eight out of 10 players scored tonight,” Middletown head coach Erika Galvan said. “Our tough defense was the star tonight.”

Other Middletown defensive standouts were Elizabeth Ahlmann, Julia Caviness and Stella Brand.
