Clear Lake’s season ends with loss in North Coast Section playoffs

FORTUNA >> Clear Lake High School’s girls soccer team fell 9-0 to the Fortuna Huskies in the quarterfinal round of the North Coast Section Division 1 playoffs Saturday evening in Fortuna.
Clear Lake, the No. 7 seed in the Division 1 field, earned a first-round bye before advancing to the second round against No. 2 seed Fortuna (16-3-1), the Humboldt-Del Norte Big 5 runner up this season. Clear Lake finished second in the NCL I standings.
The Cardinals close out the year at 11-12-2.
Fortuna moves on to the semifinals Wednesday against No. 6 seed Del Norte (8-5-3). Del Norte upset No. 3 seed Credo of Rohnert Park 2-1 in quarterfinal action Friday.
