FORT BRAGG >> The Fort Bragg Timberwolves, defending North Central League I varsity volleyball champions, remained in the thick of this year’s league race with a 25-19, 25-9, 25-20 victory over the Lower Lake Trojans on Tuesday night in Fort Bragg.
Fort Bragg (6-3) won its third straight match to remain close behind Cloverdale (8-2) and Kelseyville (7-2) in the league standings. St. Helena (6-3) and Middletown (5-4) are also in the running.
“We had a rough night passing and serving, which led to us digging ourselves out of holes the entire match,” Lower Lake head coach Shannon Tubbs said.
Lower Lake (0-9) received three blocks and two kills from Brooke Benson, three aces from Brooke Watson, 4 service points from Leanna Ortega, and two kills from Jamiya Lee-Ayers.
Fort Bragg won the junior varsity match 25-12, 25-15.
Lower Lake remains on the road Tuesday to play Middletown while Fort Bragg hosts Clear Lake. JV matches at both locations begin at 5 p.m.
After playing Clear Lake (3-6) on Thursday, the Timberwolves open a brutal four-game stretch to close out their league schedule – at Middletown (Oct. 15), at Cloverdale (Oct. 17), home against St. Helena (Oct. 21) and at Kelseyville (Oct. 24).
