KELSEYVILLE >> It wasn’t exactly the season opener Kelseyville High School was looking for on Friday night, but the Orland Trojans certainly came ready to play, smacking the Knights 47-0 in a non-league varsity football game Friday night in Kelseyville.

Orland (2-0) was in control from the start against a Kelseyville squad playing in its first game – and looking like a team playing its first game.

The Trojans led 14-0 after one quarter, 28-0 at halftime and 41-0 through three quarters. The game finished with a running clock.

Kelseyville finished with 73 rushing yards and 96 yards of offense overall. Quarterback Max Lee went 2-for-8 for 33 yards in his varsity debut. Running back Michael DeJohn had 24 yards on the ground, a 15-yard reception, and 110 yards in kickoff return yardage.

Kelseyville had five first downs, but only two without aid of a penalty.

DeJohn also led the Kelseyville defense with seven solo stops and five assists while teammate Adrian Garcia had three tackles and seven assists.

The Knights have the league bye next week as they prepare for their league opener Sept. 19 in Fort Bragg.
