{"id":7368,"date":"2026-10-09T18:19:23","date_gmt":"2026-10-09T18:19:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=7368"},"modified":"2026-10-09T18:19:23","modified_gmt":"2026-10-09T18:19:23","slug":"knights-tie-league-leading-timberwolves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=7368","title":{"rendered":"Knights tie league-leading Timberwolves"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Cardinals, Mustangs, Trojans notch North Central League I boys soccer victories<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KELSEYVILLE &gt;&gt; Jair Inostroza Carrillo scored in the 17<sup>th<\/sup> minute to give the Kelseyville Knights an early lead as they battled the North Central League I-leading Fort Bragg Timberwolves to a 1-1 draw in boys soccer action Thursday in Kelseyville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Bragg (6-1-1 league, 11-4-2 overall) answered in the 35<sup>th<\/sup> minute to pull even against the Knights (4-3-2, 7-6-3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat was Kelseyville soccer tonight!\u201d Kelseyville head coach Kc White said. \u201cWe have the utmost respect for Fort Bragg. They play hard and they play the right way, and we always have great games with them. Tonight was no exception.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anthony Arias assisted on Inostroza Carrillo\u2019s goal as the Knights remained on the fringe of the league race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFort Bragg is in first place, but my team, in my biased opinion of course, was the better team tonight,\u201d White said. \u201cWe took it to them, we outshot them by a lot, and we had the better chances.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arias had a free kick near midfield early in the first half when he found Inostroza Carrillo, who controlled the ball and volleyed it past the Fort Bragg keeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFort Bragg answered in the 35<sup>th<\/sup> minute, I just tip my hat on that one,\u201d White said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville had a chance to take the lead early in the second half but missed a penalty kick wide right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe created more chances after that and absorbed Fort Bragg\u2019s best and ended level,\u201d White said. \u201cReally, it was a spectacular game from both teams, our best game of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Bragg won the first league meeting 3-1 on Sept. 15 in Fort Bragg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>White praised the leadership of team captains Inostroza Carrillo, Gerardo Garcia, Angel Bernal and Julio Lopez for help turning the tide after the Knights fell 2-0 to archrival Clear Lake on Tuesday in Lakeport, a game White said was one of the worst performances by the Knights during his coaching tenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnthony Arias may have been affected the most by the extra push and challenge set by my captains,\u201d White said. \u201cThat was easily Anthony\u2019s best game of his freshman season. He owned the center-mid position tonight and looking much older than a freshman. He really benefitted from a formation change.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville hosts Upper Lake on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other boys soccer action Thursday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clear Lake 3, Upper Lake 0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Upper Lake, Levi Ewing scored his 22<sup>nd<\/sup> goal of the season while Gustavo Valdez and Jaxson Fiske also had goals as the Clear Lake Cardinals shut out the Upper Lake Cougars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bairo Carmona picked up an assist in the win as Clear Lake improved to 5-3-1 in league play and 10-4-3 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clear Lake head coach Anthony Duncan said Carmona was the player of the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe played center attacking mid and really controlled the attack,\u201d Duncan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nolan Buffalo had seven saves in the shutout, and the Cardinals finished with 18 team steals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe pressure on the ball and defense was solid,\u201d Duncan said. \u201cThe passing seemed to connect every time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upper Lake fell to 0-8 in league play and 0-13-1 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both teams return to action Tuesday.
