{"id":7144,"date":"2026-09-16T15:46:18","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T15:46:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=7144"},"modified":"2026-09-16T15:46:18","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T15:46:18","slug":"westshore-varsity-breaks-into-win-column","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=7144","title":{"rendered":"Westshore varsity breaks into win column"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Cardinals improve to 1-1-1 with 36-0 shutout against Cloverdale Chargers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LAKEPORT &gt;&gt; The Westshore varsity youth football team won its first game of the season Saturday, beating the Cloverdale Chargers 36-0 during Mendo-Lake Empire Youth Football League action at Don Owens Stadium in Lakeport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Westshore (1-1-1) led 22-0 at halftime on the strength of touchdowns by Luke Percaccio, that on a five-yard run; a five-yard touchdown pass from Pops Horne to Jake Hayes; and a Horne 39-yard interception return. LJ Hopkins made the conversion kick (good for two points in youth football) after the last two touchdowns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cardinals added to their lead in the third quarter on a 40-yard Michael Knight Jr. touchdown run and a three-yard TD run by Horne, which was set up by a Percaccio 40-yard run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe kids played great tonight,\u201d Westshore head coach Sid Percaccio said. \u201cCloverdale never gave up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Added Percaccio, \u201cThis was our first game having everyone healthy.
