{"id":7051,"date":"2026-09-05T18:43:02","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T18:43:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=7051"},"modified":"2026-09-05T18:43:02","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T18:43:02","slug":"lady-knights-post-fifth-shutout-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=7051","title":{"rendered":"Lady Knights post fifth shutout victory"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Kelseyville blanks Credo in non-league action, improves to 5-1-1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ROHNERT PARK &gt;&gt; Tuning up for their North Central League I opener against Clear Lake, the only team that has beaten Kelseyville so far this season, the Knights shut out Credo 3-0 in non-league girls soccer action Friday in Rohnert Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville (5-1-1) is home Thursday to play Clear Lake (5-0-1) in the NCL I opener for both teams at 4:30 p.m. Clear Lake beat Kelseyville 2-0 in the season opener for both teams Aug. 18 in Kelseyville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All five of the Knights\u2019 victories this season have been shutouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Lady Knights continue to show great energy, teamwork and determination,\u201d Kelseyville head coach Irma Rodriguez said. \u201cWe were a little off at times, but what I love seeing is that the girls don\u2019t stay there. They reset, regroup and get back to playing together as a team. That growth and ability to fight through those moments is something to be proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville built a 2-0 halftime lead on the strength of goals by Mikaela Rico, assisted by Vanessa Reyes, and Hiliana Rico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCredo had a few opportunities and sent some shots toward the goal, but goalie Grace Hobbs was there to make the stops and keep Credo off the scoreboard,\u201d Rodriguez said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville picked up an insurance goal in the second half on a Kylee Denham shot over the goalkeeper\u2019s head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCredo continued to send the ball forward and, at times, managed to get past our defenders,\u201d Rodriguez said. \u201cOur defense wasn\u2019t having it.
