{"id":6918,"date":"2026-08-22T17:01:45","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T17:01:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6918"},"modified":"2026-08-22T17:01:45","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T17:01:45","slug":"stangs-trojans-battle-to-1-1-soccer-draw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6918","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Stangs, Trojans battle to 1-1 soccer draw"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Both teams remain undefeated in early going of 2026 season<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LOWER LAKE &gt;&gt; Middletown High School\u2019s boys soccer team earned its second tie in a row, battling the Lower Lake Trojans to a 1-1 non-league draw on Friday in Lower Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both teams remain undefeated in the early going of the 2026 season, Middletown at 1-0-2 and Lower Lake at 2-0-1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was a true defensive battle from start to finish,\u201d Middletown head coach Katie Robinson said. \u201cBoth teams came ready to compete.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower Lake took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute. Middletown answered in the 15<sup>th<\/sup> minute on a goal by freshman Eli Pulido.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe made some adjustments to our lineup and went with four defenders, and that change paid off,\u201d Robinson said. \u201cOur defense stayed organized, communicated well, and battled for every to keep Lower Lake from finding the back of the net.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown defensive leaders were senior captain Luis Pamatz and junior Jose Delgado with 10 steals apiece, and senior Harrison Brown with eight steals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur defense was relentless all night,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown\u2019s coach also had high praise for the play of senior captain Wyatt Davis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe did an outstanding job maintaining control of the field and helping direct the team throughout the match,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Added Robinson, \u201cA huge shoutout to junior goalkeeper and captain David Reyes, who had an amazing game with 16 saves \u2026 eight in each half.
