MIDDLETOWN >> Aubrey Mullen of the Mountain Vista Middle School softball team had a big day, but it wasn\u2019t enough to derail the Middletown Broncos, 11-6 winners over the Lancers on Wednesday afternoon at Middletown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mullen went 3-for-3 with a double, home run and four RBIs overall as Mountain Vista fell to 5-4 in league play and 7-9 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown (8-1, 10-2) honored eighth-graders Brennah Genetiano, Claire Irwin, Heather Warren and Sophie Stetson during its final home game of the regular season. Stetson (1-for-2) and Irwin (1-for-3) both knocked in runs. Mia Martin (2-for-3, RBI) and Cataleya Valencia (2-for-2, two RBIs) led the Broncos at the plate. Heather Irwin went 1-for-2 with a RBI and Avery Zolensky went 1-for-1 with a RBI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMiddletown is a very good, well-rounded team, but we are normally a strong defensive team and had two innings today where we had an excessive amount of physical and mental errors, and we couldn\u2019t recover,\u201d Mountain Vista head coach David Kennedy said. \u201cI\u2019m proud of how our players responded. They battled through it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kaitlyn Tarin went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Mountain Vista while losing pitcher Maylee Antoni went 2-for-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winning pitcher Peyton Beehler struck out 11 in four innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same two teams play Thursday in Kelseyville at 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other middle school softball action Wednesday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lucerne 14, Terrace 0 (4 inn.) (1st<\/sup> game)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terrace 16, Lucerne 13 (2nd<\/sup> game)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Lakeport, Lucerne and Terrace split a doubleheader, the visiting Eagles taking the first game 14-0 in four innings, and the host Vikings prevailing 16-13 in a second-game slugfest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lucerne\u2019s Ally Abreu slugged a three-three triple in the opener, just missing a grand slam, while winning pitcher Angelina Gozony struck out 10 and walked none.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monique Gozony and Sophie Basurto also had hits for Lucerne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In game two, Abeu homered for Lucerne, the first of her seven-year softball career. Basurto went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Angelina Gozony went 1-for-3 with three RBIs, and Rose Sparks went 1-for-3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terrace statistics were not reported for either game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
