Lucerne rallies past Mountain Vista for 8-7 middle school softball victory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

UPPER LAKE >> Peyton Beehler of Middletown pitched a two-hitter, walking none and striking out 13 as the Broncos beat Upper Lake 11-0 in five innings during middle school softball action Monday in Upper Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marina Quiett (2-for-2, triple) was the only Upper Lake player to reach base against Beehler, who also went 1-for-2 with a double.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown (7-1 league, 9-2 overall) had no shortage of offense, led by Brennah Genetiano (2-for-3, RBI), Emmie Hernandez (2-for-3, RBI), Mia Martin (1-for-2, RBI) and Cataleya Valencia (1-for-1, double, RBI). Claire Irwin and Heather Warren also had hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown hosts Mountain Vista on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. It will be eighth-grade day for the Broncos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other middle school softball action Monday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lucerne 8, Mountain Vista 7<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Kelseyville, Lucerne rallied with three runs in the top of the sixth inning to beat Mountain Vista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winning pitcher Angelina Gozony struck out 11 and walked only two while pitching the Eagles to victory. She also went 2-for-3 with three RBIs at the plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis was a fun game to watch, it was a battle all the way,\u201d Lucerne head coach Fred Miller said. \u201cKelseyville has a great group of girls and coaches. The positive attitudes and sportsmanship really shine in their games. It was a pleasure getting to play them three times this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sophie Basurto went 1-for-3 and Monique Gozony drove in a pair of runs for Lucerne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevaeh Davis was the losing pitcher. She pitched 5 2\/3 innings, struck out 13 and walking nine. Aliana Gomez went 2-for-4 with a double, Kaelyn Leboy went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, and Cassie Keyes went 2-for-3 with a RBI for Mountain Vista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also for the Lancers, Aubrey Mullen went 1-for-3 with a triple and RBI, Melanie Martine went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Kaitlyn Tarin went 1-for-2 with a double and RBI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was a tough loss,\u201d Mountain Vista head coach David Kennedy said. \u201cNevaeh Davis pitching amazing, but I left her in too long and she was tired.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
