{"id":6474,"date":"2026-04-29T16:25:42","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T16:25:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6474"},"modified":"2026-04-29T16:30:03","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T16:30:03","slug":"mustangs-earn-another-tennis-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6474","title":{"rendered":"Mustangs earn another tennis championship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Middletown closes with 4-1 win over Fort Bragg to nail down third straight North crown<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE &gt;&gt; The Middletown Mustangs nailed down a third straight Coastal Mountain Conference North tennis championship Tuesday afternoon with a 4-1 win over Fort Bragg in their regular-season finale at the Hidden Valley Lake courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Bragg\u2019s lone win came in first singles where Namen Bhatt, among the favorites to win the boys singles championship at the upcoming CMC Championships, turned back Will Hoskins 6-1, 6-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNamen is a great player and seeded No. 3 in the CMC,\u201d Middletown head coach Tony Hart said. \u201cHe handled Will. Will was happy to challenge him in some games and enjoyed the challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown won the other three contested matches in straight sets while also receiving a forfeit victory in second doubles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anthony Lopez beat Galvin Wahll 6-1, 6-4 in second singles while Jasiah Pike defeated Theodore Gebheim 6-0, 6-1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnthony finished his season and career with a solid win and the best set he played all year in the first,\u201d Hart said. \u201cJasiah rolled as well and is playing his best tennis of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the only contested doubles match, Siobhan Ryan and Olivia Ruiz won 6-0, 6-1 in first doubles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown\u2019s Nalu Johnson and Luis Pamatz received the forfeit win in second doubles, finishing the season undefeated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mustangs honored their four seniors in the home season finale.
