Mustangs sweep Willits 5-0 at home, Knights post 4-1 road victory against Cloverdale<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE >> Middletown High School unleased its younger players on a rebuilding Willits High School tennis team Thursday afternoon, but the Mustangs still came away with a 5-0 win in Coastal Mountain Conference North action at the Hidden Valley Lake courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnother chance to get the freshmen some match play and they delivered,\u201d Middletown head coach Tony Hart said. \u201cIt was good to play in the sun, and the kids had fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luis Pamatz beat Yamile Vieyere 6-1, 6-1 in first singles, Nalu Johnson rolled past Alieah Barragan 6-0, 6-0 in second singles, and Anthony Lopez defeated Mia Chavez 6-1, 6-1 in third singles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In doubles action, Brady Perreault and Koa Johnson posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over April Viegas and Alissan Raya, while Emma Davis and Grace Williams beat Sofia Vaccaro and Brihana Villalobos 6-0, 6-0 in second doubles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown is 9-1 in conference action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown hosts Cloverdale on Friday at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other CMC North action Thursday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kelseyville 4, Cloverdale 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Cloverdale, Kelseyville won two out of three singles matches while taking both doubles matches in a road win against the Cloverdale Eagles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maddy Borghesani beat Cloverdale\u2019s Caleb Gomez 6-1, 6-3 in first singles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCaleb is a good player,\u201d Kelseyville head coach Andy Dobusch said. \u201cIt was a nice win for Maddy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cloverdale came back to win in second singles, Andrew Cook defeating Riley Lopez 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019d like to think we win this match eight out of 10 times,\u201d Dobusch said. \u201cNot a great day for serving; too many missed serves, and too much focus on pace versus placement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In third singles, Liv Bushey defeated Owen Tarleton 6-2, 6-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLiv displayed a lot of variety in her game,\u201d Dobusch said. \u201cAt times, she took pace off with slice, at times she hit strong shots with top spin. It was a good, complete game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Riley Hanson and Brooklyn Young beat Cloverdale\u2019s Brianna Escobar and Victoria Hernandez 6-4, 6-1 in first doubles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA little shaky first set after the trip over Hopland, but they settled in for a comfortable win,\u201d Dobusch said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Olivia Raabe and Grace Peterson breezed to a 6-0, 6-2 win in second doubles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey were off the court pretty quickly in this one,\u201d Dobusch said. \u201cThese two could be sneaky good at the CMC Championships in a couple of weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kelseyville improved to 6-4 in the CMC North standings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
