{"id":6403,"date":"2026-04-24T17:11:03","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T17:11:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6403"},"modified":"2026-04-24T17:11:03","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T17:11:03","slug":"split-doubleheader-produces-split-for-cards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6403","title":{"rendered":"Split doubleheader produces split for Cards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Clear Lake softball team loses 15-1 to St. Helena, bounces back with 20-4 win over Upper Lake<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LAKEPORT &gt;&gt; After being dominated by St. Helena 15-1 in the opening game of a North Central League I split doubleheader Thursday afternoon, the Clear Lake High School softball team scored 20 unanswered runs in a 20-4 victory over Upper Lake in the late game at Lakeport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both contests ended after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clear Lake (5-3 league, 12-5 overall) fell behind 4-0 against Upper Lake (2-3, 4-4) in the second game before rallying. The Cardinals got one of those runs back in the bottom of the first before taking a 5-4 lead in the second. A 13-run outburst in the bottom of the third put the game out of reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winning pitcher Atiana Patino went 3-for-4 with four RBIs while her battery mate, catcher Faith McIntire, went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Center fielder Amelie Davis (2-for-2, double) also drove in four runs. Ashlynn Cruz (double) and Lindee Bingham added two hits apiece while Karsyn Greer, Sophia Gonzales (1-for-3, triple, RBI) and Natalie Tamayo had the other Clear Lake hits. Greer, Gonzales, Tamayo, Abbi Malley and Danica Wilson all had RBIs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patino struck out six and walked one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Upper Lake, Bella Stillman went 2-for-2 with a double and RBI, Jordyn Parker went 2-for-3 with a RBI and Ava Witter went 2-for-3. Losing pitcher Kylee Solorio (double) and Aubree Sperber also had hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Solorio worked the first three innings, striking out two and walking nine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had a great first inning,\u201d Upper Lake head coach Janice Klier said. \u201cAfter that we just gave up too many runs on errors. We are looking forward to our rematch tomorrow (Friday).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clear Lake travels to Upper Lake on Friday. First pitch is 4 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>St. Helena 15, Clear Lake 1 (5 inn.)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gonzales pitched a complete game for Clear Lake as it fell to St. Helena (7-0, 10-5), which moved into a tie for first place with Cloverdale atop the NCL I standings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winning pitcher Ada Blanton blanked the Cardinals on four hits during her four innings of work. She struck out four and walked none. Clear Lake avoided the shutout by scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth against reliever Maycee Farrell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McIntire went 2-for-2 with a double for Clear Lake while Davis went 1-for-2 with a double.
