LOWER LAKE >> Running the 400 meters for the first time, Middletown High School senior Hayden Xavier broke the school record with a winning time of 49.77 seconds Wednesday afternoon during a Coastal Mountain Conference track and field meet in Lower Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xavier also holds school records, set this season, in the 100 and 200. He won the 200 on Wednesday in 22.09, just off his personal best of 22.07. He also anchored Middletown\u2019s winning 4×100 team (44.67), joining teammates Esteban Muniz, Jamisen Jackson and  Luke Mace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown\u2019s varsity boys won the team scoring portion of the meet, finishing with 137 points to host Lower Lake\u2019s 97. Calistoga came in third with 36 and was followed by Kelseyville with 17 and Clear Lake with 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Varsity boys<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top three finishers in each event were Lower Lake\u2019s Roy Percoats (11.59) in the100 followed by Middletown\u2019s Muniz (11.73) and Jackson (11.77); Xavier in the 200 followed by Muniz (23.92) and Calistoga\u2019s Andres Guzman (26.14); Xavier in the 400 followed by teammate Mace (55.79) and Lower Lake\u2019s Anthony Russell (58.09); Lower Lake\u2019s Edwin Castellanos in the 800 (2 minutes, 18.69 seconds followed by Lower Lake\u2019s Emliano Rivera (2:19.09) and Middletown\u2019s Ren Ueno (2:26.29);  Middletown\u2019s Ueno in the 1,600 (5:16.58) followed by teammate Isael Haro (5:41.56) and Calistoga\u2019s Guzan (5:54.17); and Lower Lake\u2019s Rivero (11:58.50) in the 3,200 followed by Middletown\u2019s Haro (12:00.90) and Lower Lake\u2019s Logan Case (12:51.70).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cXavier is just an insane athlete,\u201d Middletown head coach Wyatt Hall said. \u201cHe has never run the 400 in a meet. We decided to have him run the event the morning of the meet. With his speed the coaching staff thought he would run a time in the low 50s, but as he came around the final turn I knew he had a chance. He pushed himself through the line, almost collapsing after crossing, and now he owns all individuals sprinting records at MHS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Added Hall, \u201cRen Ueno and Isael Haro ran well today. Ueno finished first in the 1,600 and set his best 800  time of the year. Haro came away with two second-place finishes in the 1,600 and 3,200. Haro has been improving his 2-mile (time) each week. That steady improvement is exactly what we want as we approach the end of the season.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the hurdles, Raijhier McKneely of Lower Lake won the 110 hurdles in 16.60, with teammate Christian Rincon second (18:03) and Middletown\u2019s Henry Ames (20.17) third. Middletown\u2019s Ames won the 300 hurdles (46.29), beating out teammate Mason Broussard (53.29).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown picked up another first in the 4×400 relay as Ames, Jackson, Gavin Elliott and Ryan Halverson finished in 3:51.70.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving to the field events, Liam Elledge of Lower Lake won the shotput with a toss of 40-8, edging out teammate Steven Rich (40-7 \u00bd). Middletown\u2019s Eli Norris (37-9 \u00bd) came in third..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a Lower Lake sweep in the discus as Alfonso Rones topped the field at 134-2. Joseph Trongo was second at 117-1 and Mark VanHoose was third in 100-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kelseyville\u2019s Jacob Parker won the high jump by clearing 5-6. Middletown\u2019s Cale McLean came in second at 5-4 followed by Jackson at 5-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dylan Caviness led a Middletown sweep in the pole vault, clearing 10-6 to the 9-6 of Sean Torres and 9-0 of Ueno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calistoga\u2019s Julian Montanez won the long jump in 18-1\/2 while Kelseyville\u2019s Parker was second in 17-8. Oliver Vera of Calistoga took third in 14-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calistoga\u2019s Montanez (35-11) topped the field in the triple jump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Varsity girls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown\u2019s varsity girls won in team scoring with 128 points to Kelseyville\u2019s 68 and Lower Lake\u2019s 54. Calistoga had 23 points and Clear Lake 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Casi Padilla of Middletown won the 100 in 13.93 and was followed by Lower Lake\u2019s Lynneah Daniels (14.17) and Crystal Montanez (14.33). Middletown scored a clean sweep in the 200 where Avery Peterson (29.13) edged out teammate Tina Lopez (29.15) for first place. Padilla was third at 29.35. Peterson came back with another win in the 400 (1:0377), finishing just ahead of Kelseyville\u2019s Elizabeth Erlandson (1:03.77). Jolene Holley of Middletown was third (1:07.30). Kelseyville\u2019s Kylee Denham won the 800 in 2:05.90, well ahead of Middletown\u2019s Charlize Hill (2:51.21) and Bailey Smith (3:03.58). In the 1,600, Middletown\u2019s Hill came in first (6:05.72), Lower Lake\u2019s Angela Martin was second (6:49.20), and Kelseyville\u2019s Camila Morales was third (8:12.56). Kelseyville\u2019s Aylin Aguilar (14:49.29) finished two seconds ahead of Middletown\u2019s Len Rivas (14:51.49) in the 3,200.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy varsity girl sprinters all performed well,\u201d Hall said. \u201cAvery Peterson won two races, including a close 200 that involved multiple Mustangs fighting to the finish.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving to the hurdle events, Kelseyville\u2019s Denham won the 100 hurdles (19.81), teammate Grace Hobbs (21.52) was second and Middletown\u2019s Braleigh Bokum finished third (22.10).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown\u2019s 4×100 relay team of Holley, Padilla, Thira Hoage and Tina Lopez finished first in 53.21, edging out the Lower Lake team of Daniels, Irianna Milano, Crystal Montanez and Cristal Castro-Luna (53.70).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown also won the 4×400 relay as Bokum, Smith, Lopez and Peterson topped the field in 4:41.36.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the field events, Middletown\u2019s Alivia Stark won the shotput (25-6 \u00bd) while Lower Lake\u2019s Maribel Myer (24-8) and Juliet Backer-Lewis (24-4 \u00be) came in second and third, respectively. Middletown\u2019s Crystal Duval won the discus in 82-3, beating out Calistoga\u2019s Karen Quiepo (75-0) and Lower Lake\u2019s Neveah Myer (73-0).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown\u2019s Holley won the high jump in 4-8, finishing ahead of Kelseyville\u2019s Denham (4-6) and Erlandson (4-6). Lower Lake\u2019s Jordan Stark won the pole vault in 6-6. Middletown\u2019s Alexa Rodriguez (5-6) and Rivas (5-6) tied for second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the long jump Fernanada Heredia of Calistoga cleared 13-1, beating out Middletown\u2019s Veronica Daughtery (12-5) and Calistoga\u2019s Itzia Enriquez (11-10).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frosh\/soph boys<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calistoga won the frosh\/soph boys division with 99 points to Middletown\u2019s 89, Kelseyville\u2019s 42, Lower Lake\u2019s 38 and Clear Lake\u2019s 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Event winners included Owen Hawkins of Middletown in the 110 hurdles (19.97), Lower Lake\u2019s Haven Mack in the 300 hurdles (53.41), the Middletown 4×100 team of Ethan Silva, Evan Austin, Hudson Kelley and Jay Lee (50.55), the Middletown 4×400 teams of Hawkins, Ryder Roudebush, Ruben Velazques and Zach Norris (4:07.76), Angel Ruiz of Kelseyville in the shotput (38-4 \u00bd), Caleb Ahlmann of Middletown in the high jump (5-2), and Norris of Middletown in the pole vault (8-6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy frosh\/soph boys high jump group had a great meet,\u201d Hall said. \u201cCaleb Ahlmann set a new personal best of 5-2 to take the win. My three other jumpers all finished at 5-0.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frosh\/soph girls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kelseyville outscored the competition in the frosh\/soph girls division, finishing with 84 points to Middletown\u2019s 55, Calistoga\u2019s 46, Lower Lake\u2019s 43 and Clear Lake\u2019s 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lake County winners were Samira Mendez of Lower Lake in the 100 (14.44), Stella Aleman of Lower Lake in the 200 (29.54), Dakotah Burton of Kelseyville in the 400 (1:07.60), Ximena Herren of Kelseyville in the 800 (2:53.96), Alexandra Garcia of Kelseyville in the 1,600 (6:43.44), Riley Givens of Lower Lake in the 100 hurdles (18.89), Emma Stark of Middletown in the 300 hurdles (1:01.18), the Lower Lake 4×100 relay team of Givens, Aleman, Mendez and Layla Naredo (54.72), the Kelseyville 4×400 relay team of Herren, Garcia, Burton and Kyia Gregorie (5:07.75), Herren in the shotput (18-10 \u00bd), Cali Tripp of Middletown in the discus (68-9), Ariel Perez of Clear Lake in the high jump (3-10), Trinity Wood of Middletown in the pole vault (7-0), and Burton of Kelseyville in the long jump (12-5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCali Tripp had a great day at discus,\u201d Hall said. \u201cShe threw a new personal best and is now throwing above some of my varsity girls.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kelseyville travels to St. Helena next Wednesday, Middletown competes in Calistoga, and Clear Lake and Upper Lake return to Lower Lake.
