{"id":6346,"date":"2026-04-18T21:57:34","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T21:57:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6346"},"modified":"2026-04-18T21:57:34","modified_gmt":"2026-04-18T21:57:34","slug":"xavier-breaks-own-middletown-records","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6346","title":{"rendered":"Xavier breaks own Middletown records"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Senior runs away from field in 100, 200 at NorCal Small Schools Invitational<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CHICO &gt;&gt; Hayden Xavier set Middletown High School records in the 100 meters and 200 while also setting meet records Friday afternoon at the NorCal Small Schools Invitational in Chico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Xavier broke his own school records in both events, winning the 100 in 10.72 seconds (old meet record 11.41) and the 200 in 22.15 (old meet record 22.62).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe had a great meet,\u201d Middletown head coach Wyatt Hall said of the senior. \u201cHe had great starts and was able to improve his records and take home some medals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown\u2019s Jamisen Jackson finished third in the 100 at 11.40, also beating the previous meet record as did runner-up Jonathan Vazquez Hernandez (11.29) of Pierce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the varsity girls division, Middletown\u2019s Crystal Duval, coming off the first 90-foot discus throw of her career a day earlier in a Coastal Mountain Conference meet at St. Helena, achieved a new personal best with a toss of 94-2, which earned her a third-place finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe had another great day,\u201d Hall said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown\u2019s Sophie Yebra ran third in the 3,200 with a season-best time of 13 minutes, 52.99 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDue to a planned trip, this was Yebra\u2019s last meet with us,\u201d Hall said. \u201cShe has been a solid distance runner for four years and a steady captain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among other Middletown highlights at the meet were Tyler Galamay\u2019s multiple wins in the boys frosh-soph division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>JV boys<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDue to entry limits, Tyler Galamay was moved down from varsity,\u201d Hall said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Galamay dominated in the frosh-soph division, the sophomore winning the 100 (12.02), the 200 (24.81) and anchoring Middletown\u2019s first-place 4&#215;100 team that includes Gavin Elliott, Evan Austin and Hudson Kelley (48.67).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelley also placed third in the high jump (5-4).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHudson Kelley performed well today,\u201d Hall said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown\u2019s frosh-soph 4&#215;400 team of Kai Sooy, David Wallace and Zach Norris just missed, placing second in 4 minutes, 9.33 seconds while champion CORE Butte clocked in at 4:09.05.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur 4&#215;400 team ran a thrilling race,\u201d Hall said. \u201cZach Norris anchored the team and nearly completed a 10-meter comeback but fell just one step short. The heart of that JV team could be seen though, and I know they can\u2019t wait to get another chance at the event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>JV girls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown\u2019s Emma Stark finished fourth in the 300 hurdles (58.19), fifth in the 100 hurdles (19.79) and eighth in the long jump (12-7), all personal-best performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEmma Stark was amazing today,\u201d Hall said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile we didn\u2019t win any of the divisions this year, I am happy with how my team performed coming off a meet yesterday (in St. Helena),\u201d Hall said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A handful of Middletown\u2019s track and field athletes take part in a third straight day of competition Saturday when they take part in the Santa Rosa Twilight Invitational.
