{"id":6318,"date":"2026-04-16T18:48:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T18:48:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6318"},"modified":"2026-04-16T18:48:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T18:48:15","slug":"lower-lakes-percoats-lowers-100-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6318","title":{"rendered":"Lower Lake&#8217;s Percoats lowers 100 time"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Middletown freshman Hill wins 1,600, 3,200 races<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LOWER LAKE &gt;&gt; Lower Lake High School freshman Roy Percoats won the 100-meter dash and finished second in the 200 on Wednesday afternoon as Lower Lake hosted Fort Bragg, Willits and Clear Lake in a Coastal Mountain Conference track and field meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One Middletown athlete also took part, Charlize Hill, and the freshman won both the 1,600 (6 minutes, 4.28 seconds) and the 3,200 (14:21.38) in the varsity girls division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Varsity boys<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Percoats won the 100 in a personal-best 11.42 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRoy is now third all time in school history, and the eighth fastest freshman in the Redwood Empire for the 100 meters,\u201d Lower Lake head coach Bobby Landgraf said. \u201cHe also took second in the 200 (23.58), though it wasn\u2019t the race he wanted. The sky is the limit for this talented kid.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alfonso Rones, a junior, won the discus for Lower Lake with a throw of 151 feet, 7 inches, more than 30 feet longer than the runner-up in the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAlfonso is now fourth all time in school history for the discus, No. 1 in the league by 20 feet, and tied for 10<sup>th<\/sup> in the North Coast Section,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cHe is an incredibly dedicated athlete, and if there was ever a kid who could challenge Bryson Trask\u2019s league record (set in 2019), I believe it would be Alfonso. Hard work pays off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower Lake\u2019s Raijhier McKneely, a junior, finished third with a personal-best time of 16.55 in the 110 hurdles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is only Raijhier\u2019s second hurdle race of the year,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cHe debuted a lot later than the rest of the kids in the league, so we could fine tune some of the technical aspects of his race. He has a lot of growth still to come. He is also fourth all time in school history in that race.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Varsity girls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lower Lake 4&#215;100 relay team of senior Lynneah Daniels, junior Irianna Milano, junior Crystal Montanez and senior Mary Watson finished first in 53.12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re finally at a time they are happy with, or at least can settle for,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cIt would put them third all time in our school history, and first in the Coastal Mountain Conference right now, but they\u2019re not satisfied with a 53.12. This is a squad that knows they can run in the low 52s, so they\u2019re eager to race again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower Lake\u2019s Juliette Backer-Lewis, a senior, won the shotput with a personal-best throw of 27-10.5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJuliette has been putting in a ton of work with throws coach Tristen Ales,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cShe\u2019s come a long way since she\u2019s started, but she isn\u2019t finished. She\u2019s now ranked second in the league with that throw, so she\u2019s got more in the tank still.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Backer-Lewis also won the discus with a throw of 72-3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower Lake\u2019s Angela Martin, a junior, placed third in the 3,200 with a season-best 15:49.78.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAngela is one of those kids you just can\u2019t help but want to see succeed not only on the track, but in life,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cShe always has a smile on her face, and I absolutely love the fight she has in her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Frosh-soph boys<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower Lake sophomore Bryan Gonzales won the discus with a personal-best toss of 98-5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBryan is a beast,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cHe\u2019s transitioned from sprints to throws and he\u2019s having quite a bit of success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gonzales also placed second in the shotput with a throw of 36-3.5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also for Lower Lake, sophomore Logan Case won the pole vault in 8-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe had an OK day by his standards,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cHe wanted 9-0, but it\u2019ll come. That would be our frosh\/soph record if he can get it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Frosh\/soph girls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stella Aleman, a sophomore, won the 100 (13.63) and 200 (28.56) in personal-best times of 13.63 and 28.56, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is one of my hardest working athletes,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cShe has been showing up to everything since the season started and was training all winter. Those times put her No. 8 and No. 5 all time in school history as well as No. 7 and No. 6 in the league.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Team scoring<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Bragg won all four divisions. In varsity boys competition, the Timberwolves finished with 194 points to Lower Lake\u2019s 68, Willits\u2019 16 and Clear Lake\u2019s 10.
