{"id":6316,"date":"2026-04-16T17:23:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T17:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6316"},"modified":"2026-04-16T17:23:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T17:23:08","slug":"mountain-vista-mtown-obsidian-win-in-soccer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6316","title":{"rendered":"Mountain Vista, M&#8217;town, Obsidian win in soccer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Lalo Serrato&#8217;s hat trick for Lancers propels team to 5-0 non-league victory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BOONVILLE &gt;&gt; Mountain Vista Middle School co-ed soccer head coach Oscar Lopez said he didn\u2019t have to motivate his players at halftime Wednesday afternoon during a non-league game against Anderson Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They did it all by themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mountain Vista (8-3) had a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI thought, \u2018Here we go,\u2019\u201d Lopez said. \u201cNinety-eight percent of the game we were on their half (of the field),&#8221; Lopez said. \u201cIt\u2019s not that we didn\u2019t have opportunities in the first half, we just couldn\u2019t hit the target.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the second half started, Lopez said his players took the initiative during the halftime break and motivated themselves to play better in the second half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe kids just did it on their own,\u201d Lopez said. \u201cThey found some energy and got after it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mountain Vista\u2019s four-goal surge in the second half was led by Lalo Serrato, who finished the game with a hat trick. Erik Gomez and Cami Yapelli had the Lancers\u2019 other goals. Hiliana Rico had two assists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mountain Vista travels to Lower Lake on Monday to play Obsidian Middle School at 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other middle school co-ed soccer action Wednesday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Middletown 1, Upper Lake 0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Middletown, unable to field their normal starting lineup, the Middletown Broncos still found a way to win, beating the Upper Lake Wildcats on Roe Kilstrom\u2019s breakaway goal in the second half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, we had some injuries last game that forced us to sit starters and limit others\u2019 playing time, so we couldn\u2019t find a groove on offense, but our defense played really well together,\u201d Middletown head coach Ernest Pulido said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upper Lake came close to scoring in the first half when a shot was partially blocked by Middletown keeper Ruben Rincon. He got enough of the ball to slow it down, allowing fullback Anaya Kilstrom to clear it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the second half of a still scoreless game, Upper Lake had a penalty kick that bounced off the left post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown (4-0 league, 5-0 overall) has a bye Monday before returning to action next Wednesday at home against Terrace School at 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Obsidian 3, Terrace School 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Lakeport, Marco Soto and Evelin Vargas scored goals in the second half to lift Obsidian Middle School to a win over Terrace School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soto also scored in the first half, which ended in a 1-1 tie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTerrace continued to fight hard until the end, but OMS finished strong and earned the win,\u201d Obsidian head coach Andres Hernandez said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obsidian is 2-1 in league play.
