{"id":6309,"date":"2026-04-15T23:22:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T23:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6309"},"modified":"2026-04-15T23:22:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T23:22:00","slug":"lake-county-eagles-win-reno-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6309","title":{"rendered":"Lake County Eagles win Reno championship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Under-12 boys basketball team wins all four of its game at Reno Classic<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RENO &gt;&gt; The Lake County Eagles under-12 traveling boys basketball team went 4-0 and won its division during the Reno Classic held Saturday and Sunday in Reno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAlways proud of our boys being from Lake County and going to compete at a high level with teams from all over,\u201d Eagles head coach Mason Smith said. \u201cIt\u2019s a great sight to see. It\u2019s a pleasure to coach this group.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Eagles beat CVBA out of Carson City 57-16 in their final game Sunday behind 13 points, five rebounds and four steals from Darius Dubose and 10 points, six rebounds and three steals from LJ Hopkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe started hot and never left our foot off the gas pedal,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Greyson Wienke had five points in the win while Jaiden Griffith pulled down a team-best nine rebounds to go along with four points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier Sunday, the Eagles defeated the Reno Tropics 47-27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey had a kid about 6 feet tall,\u201d Smith said. \u201cHaven\u2019t seen that type of height yet and we handled it well. We got him sent to the bench early in the first half with three fouls and then he was never able to catch a rhythm. I\u2019m proud of the boys for attacking him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Isaiah Reyes led the Eagles with 14 points and eight rebounds while Hopkins contributed eight points, nine rebounds and four steals. Charlie Mulanda added six points and nine rebounds, and Jace Johnson had six points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During action Saturday, the Eagles opened tournament play with a 43-30 win over SSBA out of Sparks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was a tough game,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reyes had a big game for the Eagles, his double-double of 18 points and 21 rebounds setting the tone. Hopkins chipped in 12 points and four rebounds.
