Broncos hand Mountain Vista first league loss; Obsidian rolls pat Upper Lake<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

KELSEYVILLE >> In a battle of co-ed soccer teams with undefeated league records, Middletown Middle School edged Mountain Vista 2-1 on Monday afternoon in Kelseyville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown (3-0 league, 4-0 overall) took a 1-0 lead into halftime, scored early in the second half to go up 2-0, then fought off the Lancers the rest of the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erik Gomez scored for Mountain Vista (2-1 league, 7-3 overall) to halve Middletown\u2019s lead, but the Lancers couldn\u2019t get another shot past the Broncos\u2019 keeper, according to head coach Oscar Lopez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe were attacking, attacking and kept chipping away, but we couldn\u2019t get that tying goal no matter how hard we tried,\u201d Lopez said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isaac Delgado and Andres Yebra scored Middletown\u2019s goals. Andres Yebra assisted on Delgado\u2019s goal while Xavier Yebra assisted on brother Andres Yebra\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cComing back from spring break we were flat with no energy,\u201d Lopez said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mountain Vista hits the road Wednesday to play Anderson Valley in non-league action at Boonville starting at 4:30 p.m. Middletown hosts Upper Lake in a league game Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same two schools also played a B game won 4-2 by Mountain Vista. Erik Gomez had a hat trick for the Lancers while Emma Escarcega scored the other goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ryker Gotz scored Middletown\u2019s goals while Roe Kilstrom had both assists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obsidian 6, Upper Lake 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Lower Lake, Marco Soto\u2019s hat trick propelled the Obsidian Bears to a league win over the Upper Lake Wildcats. Said Flores, Carlos Torres and Victor Gil had the other Obsidian goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benji Osorio, Angel Fernandez and Evelyn Vargas had assists for the Bears, who improved to 1-1 in league play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
