{"id":6224,"date":"2026-04-05T18:55:26","date_gmt":"2026-04-05T18:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6224"},"modified":"2026-04-05T18:55:26","modified_gmt":"2026-04-05T18:55:26","slug":"llhs-track-team-shines-at-san-ramon-meet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=6224","title":{"rendered":"LLHS track team shines at San Ramon meet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Steven Rich places second in varsity boys shotput at East Bay Invitational<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAN RAMON &gt;&gt; Lower Lake High School\u2019s track and field athletes turned in strong showings Saturday during the East Bay Invitational in San Ramon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the varsity boys division, senior Steven Rich placed second in the shotput with a throw of 43 feet, 10 inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is the second meet this year Steven has thrown over a foot past his PR,\u201d Lower Lake head coach Bobby Landgraf said. \u201cHe wants to be in the range of 45-46 (feet) and I think he\u2019s got that in his wheelhouse this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raijhier McKneely took sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 16.95 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRaijhier made his debut for the season in hurdles and I was excited to se it,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cHe can seven-step to the first hurdle and has a natural three-step in between with tremendous athleticism and potential in hurdles. We took extra time with him to work on his trail leg and aggressiveness to the hurdle. He\u2019s been patient, just putting in the work until he was ready. His patience paid off big time with that PR. His goal is the NCS Meet of Champions in Dublin. If he keeps working the way he does, there is no reason he can\u2019t qualify.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alfonso Rones placed fifth in the discus at 132-4 while teammate Jorge Carlos was eighth in 121-11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCoach Tristen (Ales) is showing time and time again how dominant he can make our throwers,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cFirst Steven, then Jorge and Alfonso. It\u2019s only April, so I\u2019m very excited to see where these guys peak.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Varsity girls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jordan Stark placed seventh in the pole vault with a personal-best mark of 7-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJordan threw down a hard-earned PR,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cI\u2019m excited to see what\u2019s coming next.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>JV girls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower Lake\u2019s 4&#215;100 relay team of Eleyna McTeague, Layla Naredo, Riley Givens and Stella Aleman placed second in 54.57 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had a rough handoff to start on the first exchange, but they picked it up very promptly with great splits toward the end.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 4&#215;400 team of Laylonie Barocio, Naredo, McTeague and Givens came in third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was a whole squad of kids who haven\u2019t run a 400 in over a year, if ever,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cThey executed well and were aggressive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>JV boys<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Logan Case took third in the pole vault at 8-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is Logan\u2019s second year pole vaulting and we saw some great looks from him going into the meet, but he throw down this 8-6 from out of nowhere,\u201d Landgraf said. \u201cHe was incredibly close to clearing 9-0.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" src=\"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/8AF58958-2AD7-42F8-87C1-43CD57A7527F-edited.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6227\" style=\"width:841px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/8AF58958-2AD7-42F8-87C1-43CD57A7527F-edited.jpeg 640w, https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/8AF58958-2AD7-42F8-87C1-43CD57A7527F-edited-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Steven Rich places second in varsity boys shotput at East Bay Invitational Lake County Sports on Facebook SAN RAMON &gt;&gt; Lower Lake High School\u2019s track and field athletes turned in strong showings Saturday during the East Bay Invitational in San Ramon.
