The Knights lost in two sets to Heritage, El Cerrito, Burton and Rancho Cotate.

“We played Heritage tough in the first set (14-14 at one point) before succumbing in the end,” White said. “That was the bright spot of the morning to be honest. We got our butts kicked the rest of group play.”

Added White, “However, the team regrouped in the afternoon and beat Marin Catholic in three sets. What an adventure that one was. We won the first set pretty comfortably, and we were leading in the second set by quite a big margin before collapsing and gifting them the second. It was one of those sets that really could have led to a poor performance in the final set, but to my team’s credit, they went out and played the way they had in the first set and a half. Luckily for us, the final set was played to 15 so we didn’t have time to overthink it.”

George Cline was Kelseyville’s standout player during the day, according to White.

“His passing and serve receive today, for the most part, were fantastic,” White said. “He put the ball in the perfect spot for the setter consistently. It’s days like today that get me really excited for his trajectory because he’s only a freshman and there has been so much growth in just the two months that he’s been playing.”

Kelseyville has next week off for spring break.
