{"id":5244,"date":"2026-01-13T22:43:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T22:43:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=5244"},"modified":"2026-01-13T22:43:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T22:43:06","slug":"core-wrestlers-hit-the-medal-jackpot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=5244","title":{"rendered":"CORE wrestlers hit the medal jackpot"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Club competes in Placerville, Folsom tournaments over the weekend<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FOLSOM &gt;&gt; CORE Wrestling Club members participated in tournaments on back-to-back days over the weekend, attending the Meat Grinder on Saturday in Placerville and the New Year\u2019s Bash on Sunday in Folsom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three CORE wrestlers \u2013 Colin Crown, Kaitlyn Crown and Wyatt Hooten \u2013 combined to bring home 10 medals all by themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cColin Crown, Kaitlyn Crow and Wyatt Hooten showed some true grit this weekend,\u201d CORE coach Daniel Hooten said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hooten double-bracketed at the Meat Grinder, taking home first- and second-place medals with a combined record of 7-1. Kaitlyn Crow finished second in the novice girls division with a 2-1 record, and she also wrestled in the boys TOC division, going 1-2 for a third-place finish. Colin Crow went 3-1, coming in third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the New Year\u2019s Bash on Sunday at the Folsom Wrestling Academy, Colin Crow double-bracketed and scored a pair of firsts \u2013 intermediate boys 51-56 pounds, going 3-0 with two technical falls, and intermediate boys 53.6-57 pounds, going 2-0 with one technical fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kaitlyn Crow double-bracketd and finished second in middle school girls, 75-81 pounds, going 1-1 with a pin, and second in novice boys, 74-77.2 pounds, going 3-1 with two pins and one technical fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hooten double-bracketed as well, finishing second in novice boys, 61.3-67 pounds, going 3-1 with one pin and one technical fall, and taking fourth in novice boys, 70-74 pounds, going 1-3 with a pin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two other CORE wrestlers also double-bracketed at Folsom. Eric Holley finished second in two different bantam divisions, going 2-1 with one technical fall at 48.5-52 pounds, and going 3-1 with two pins and one technical fall at 48.5-54 pounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ryder White Eagle placed second in the middle school boys division (122-140 pounds), going 3-1 with three pins, and he also took fourth in the middle school boys division 122-130 pounds), going 1-3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe rounded up 13 medals with five wrestlers for the weekend,\u201d Hooten said. \u201cThat\u2019s a good weekend if you ask me.
