{"id":5052,"date":"2025-12-18T17:48:43","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T17:48:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=5052"},"modified":"2025-12-18T22:12:03","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T22:12:03","slug":"middletown-a-terrace-b-teams-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=5052","title":{"rendered":"Middletown A, Terrace B teams win"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Middle school girls basketball squads post league victories<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MIDDLETOWN &gt;&gt; Middletown Middle School\u2019s A girls basketball team won another close one, this time beating Upper Lake Middle School 32-31 on Wednesday night in Middletown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese girls just have a knack for winning close games,\u201d Middletown head coach Wayne Harbison said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown improved to 4-0 in league play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTwo of the league wins came in overtime and this one was tight all the way,\u201d Harbison said of the win over Upper Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRylee Gabbet played critical minutes, scoring six points and grabbing six rebounds,\u201d Harbison said. \u201cWe don\u2019t win tonight without Rylee\u2019s strong performance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stella Brand also came up big for the Broncos, according to Harbison as she finished with seven points, six rebounds and three steals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Middletown B 20, Upper Lake B 19<br><\/strong>At Middletown, Middletown&#8217;s B team watched a 16-6 lead nearly slip away in the fourth quarter as the Broncos edged the Upper Lake Wildcats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Upper Lake put in a full court press that stifled the Lady Broncos,&#8221; Middletown head coach Dustin Fults said. &#8220;They were able to make one last stop to stay ahead when the last second ticked off the clock.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emmie Hernandez scored seven points for Middletown and Lola Fults added four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other middle school girls basketball action Wednesday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Terrace B 30, Obsidian B 16<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Clearlake, Terrace finished the game on a 16-2 run while beating Obsidian in league play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Olivia Rose scored 13 points and Gracelyn Rose had 12 for Terrace, now 2-0 in league play and 2-2 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kendra Partida provided the Vikings with a spark as she had seven steals and six offensive rebounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe second half showed some of our potential,\u201d Terrace head coach Luis Sanchez said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Middle school girls basketball squads post league victories Lake County Sports on Facebook MIDDLETOWN &gt;&gt; Middletown Middle School\u2019s A girls basketball team won another close one, this time beating Upper Lake Middle School 32-31 on Wednesday night in Middletown. \u201cThese girls just have a knack for winning close games,\u201d Middletown head coach Wayne Harbison said.
