{"id":4975,"date":"2025-12-12T18:44:45","date_gmt":"2025-12-12T18:44:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=4975"},"modified":"2025-12-12T18:44:45","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T18:44:45","slug":"lower-lake-clear-lake-boys-win-tourney-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=4975","title":{"rendered":"Lower Lake, Clear Lake boys win tourney games"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Upper Lake comes up short at John McMillan Holiday Invitational<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MAXWELL &gt;&gt; A quartet of Lower Lake players scored in double digits Thursday as the Trojans used a big third quarter to beat Los Molinos 62-47 in the opening round of the Maxwell Tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trailing 22-14 at halftime, the Trojans (3-3) outscored the Bulldogs 34-9 in the third quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raijhier McKneely and Brody Shields led the Trojans with 16 and 15 points, respectively, while Tucker Benson added 12 and Kaimelo Connolly 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower Lake found the range on eight 3-pointers, including three from Shields and two from Benson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victory snapped a three-game losing streak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower Lake plays Biggs in the winner\u2019s semifinals Friday at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other boys tournament action Thursday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clear Lake 58, Calistoga 42<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Calistoga, Clear Lake pulled away with a 21-6 fourth quarter to beat the host Calistoga Wildcats in the opening round of the Gene Duffy Memorial Tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEveryone on the team scored,\u201d Clear Lake head coach Shady Cerezo said. \u201cIt was balanced scoring on our part. The first three quarters were closer than what I would have liked.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zane McAuley led Clear Lake\u2019s attack with 16 points while AJ Bruch finished with 10, Jesse Hayes and Sawyer Smith eight apiece, and Ayden Moreno seven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to get better each game and we\u2019re making the right stop toward that goal,\u201d Cerezo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clear Lake plays Tech on Friday at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Anderson Valley 47, Upper Lake 43<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Cloverdale, trailing by double digits most of the game, the Upper Lake Cougars fought back to tie the game in the third quarter before falling to Anderson Valley in the opening round of the John McMillan Holiday Invitational at Cloverdale High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe brought it back to a tie late in the third, but we just couldn\u2019t finish the job,\u201d Upper Lake coach Thomas Santana said. \u201cThey just wanted it more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tyler Collins led the Cougars (2-4) with 12 points and TJ Malicay had 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upper Lake plays Round Valley in the consolation semifinals Friday at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Justin-Siena 48, Kelseyville 43 (JV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Kelseyville, playing less than a week after their first meeting in Napa on Dec. 5, a 72-45 loss, the Kelseyville Knights fell to Justin-Siena in a hard-fought non-league battle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Freshman Darin Sprague led the way with 29 points and Chris Salmina added 10, including two 3-pointers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really happy with the kids\u2019 aggressiveness,\u201d Kelseyville head coach Stan Weiper said. \u201cIt was a big improvement from when we played them last time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A pair of missed layups in the final minute cost the Knights, according to Weiper, who was otherwise impressed with his team\u2019s effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe made a major improvement with out competitive structure,\u201d Weiper said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Knights host Middletown in a North Central League I game on Tuesday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Upper Lake comes up short at John McMillan Holiday Invitational Lake County Sports on Facebook MAXWELL &gt;&gt; A quartet of Lower Lake players scored in double digits Thursday as the Trojans used a big third quarter to beat Los Molinos 62-47 in the opening round of the Maxwell Tournament.
