{"id":4923,"date":"2025-12-08T01:23:30","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T01:23:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=4923"},"modified":"2025-12-08T01:23:30","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T01:23:30","slug":"clear-lake-lower-lake-girls-post-wins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=4923","title":{"rendered":"Clear Lake, Lower Lake girls post wins"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Lower Lake JVs beat Kelseyville in tournament championship game<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PETALUMA &gt;&gt; Nine different players scored as the Clear Lake High School varsity girls basketball team beat Sonoma Academy 36-24 in the consolation championship game of the Lady Mustangs Tip-Off Classic at St. Vincent High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clear Lake (3-2) carried a 28-14 lead into the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jazmin Wiebusch led a balanced Clear Lake attack with seven points while Kam Cresto and Ashlynn Cruz each had six. Wiebusch also had five rebounds and three steals. Amelie Davis and Faith McIntire pulled down seven rebounds apiece. Davis, a freshman, also led the Cardinals with eight steals while McIntire blocked four shots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clear Lake opens its North Central League I schedule Tuesday in St. Helena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other girls tournament action Saturday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lower Lake 45, Cloverdale 43<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Cloverdale, Lower Lake edged Cloverdale in the third-place game of the Sandy Mac Memorial Tournament at Cloverdale High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Irianna Milano and Mary Watson scored 10 points apiece to lead the Trojans (2-2). Aly Aguirre added seven points and Khaya Chaney six. Chaney, Watson and Jamiya Lee-Ayers all had six rebounds while Chaney and Milano led the team with four steals apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lower Lake 39, Kelseyville 24 (JV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Kelseyville, Eden Sparks pulled down 21 rebounds to go along with 11 rebounds as the Lower Lake junior varsity squad beat tournament host Kelseyville in the championship game of the Kelseyville JV Tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Darleen Benefield led the Trojans (4-0) with 15 points. Sparks was named to the All-Tournament team along with teammate Urijah Rogers, who was honored as most valuable player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are so proud of the grit and determination these girls have,\u201d Lower Lake head coach Jessica Lackowski said. \u201cEach game is about improving on the game before, and they did that tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carly Gleason led Kelseyville (3-2) with 10 points, Ximena Herren finished with five and Olivia Arredondo had four. Arredondo was named to the All-Tournament team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe made huge improvements as a team this week,\u201d Kelseyville head coach Liz Berry said. \u201cFrom Monday to the end of the tournament, things really started to click for the girls. I\u2019m really proud of them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville, which hosts Lower Lake again on Tuesday in the league opener for both teams, lost Paelynn Beall late in the championship game with a knee injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re hoping she recovers quickly to get back out on the court with us,\u201d Berry said<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also named to the All-Tournament team were Rylee Zimmerschied of Upper Lake, Aliahnah Diaz of Willits, Xiomarro Lopez of Calistoga, and Brianna Guzman of Fort Bragg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kelseyville 47, Upper Lake 30<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Kelseyville, Kelseyville defeated Upper Lake in its early game Saturday at the Kelseyville JV Tournament behind 10 points from Brooke Poff, nine from Arredondo, seven from Herren, and six from Rilee Sperber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lower Lake 33, Calistoga 8<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Kelseyville, Lower Lake beat Calistoga early Saturday in the winner\u2019s semifinals of the Kelseyville JV Tournament. Sparks led a balanced Lower Lake attack with eight points followed by Samira Mendez and Layla Naredo with seven apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t one of our best-executed game,\u201d Lackowski said. \u201cWe need to work on precision and discipline. We\u2019ve still got room to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Middletown 55, Healdsburg 25<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Windsor, Middletown wrapped up a strong tournament performance with a dominating victory over the Healdsburg Greyhounds in the consolation championship game of the Windsor JV Tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mustangs\u2019 lone loss was a 39-37 setback to Ukiah in first-round play Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chloe Pulido led the Mustangs with a season-high 20 points, Maddie de la Torre added a season-high 15, All-Tournament selection Emma Davis had seven and Grace Williams six.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cChloe Pulido was on fire today and set the tone early for us,\u201d Middletown head coach Daryl Dacosta said. \u201cMaddie de la Torre had another stellar game for us today with a season high of 15 points.
