{"id":4822,"date":"2025-11-24T03:02:25","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T03:02:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=4822"},"modified":"2025-11-24T03:02:25","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T03:02:25","slug":"cross-country-season-comes-to-quiet-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=4822","title":{"rendered":"Cross country season comes to quiet end"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Kelseyville sends handful of runners to NCS Championships in Hayward<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HAYWARD &gt;&gt; The 2025 high school cross country season came to a quiet end for the handful of Lake County runners competing in the North Coast Section Championships on Saturday at Hayward High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only Kelseyville sent runners to the meet, which is a qualifier for the CIF State Championships next Saturday in Fresno. The top five teams in each division and the top five individuals who are not members of the top five teams advance to the state meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown, which fielded complete boys and girls teams during the regular season, did not send runners to Hayward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLast year we implemented a policy of not taking them (to Hayward) unless they could win the local leagues,\u201d Middletown head coach Taylor Tiraterra said. \u201cBoth teams fell just short this year in spite of some season-best CMC (Coastal Mountain Conference) performances. We\u2019ll get them next year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Girls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville had a complete team (five runners) in the Division 5 girls race and placed 16<sup>th<\/sup> out of 18 teams. North Central League I champion St. Helena came in 12<sup>th<\/sup>, however, the Saints\u2019 top runner, NCL I girls champion Corinna Schlatter, placed seventh out of 145 runners to earn an at-large berth into the state meet. Her time was 18 minutes, 29.4 seconds on the 3-mile course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville\u2019s top runner, junior Aylin Aguilar, placed 84<sup>th<\/sup> in 23:41.9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among other NCL I runners in the field, the top finishers were Cloverdale\u2019s Elizabeth Silva, 54<sup>th<\/sup> in 21:58.1; Cloverdale\u2019s Malia McGrath, 74<sup>th<\/sup> in 23:17.4; and Fort Bragg\u2019s Emily Olvera, 83<sup>rd<\/sup> in 23:41.5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Boys<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville\u2019s Maverick Watson placed 138<sup>th<\/sup> out of 201 runners in the Division 5 boys race with a time of 20:51.9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The top NCL I finisher was Cole Lane of Willits, who came in 26<sup>th<\/sup> at 17:03.2. He needed a time of 16:29.3 to reach the state meet as an at-large runner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Bragg placed 15<sup>th<\/sup> out of 26 schools in the team standings.
