They’ll hit the road Friday to play No. 2 seed Oakland Military Institute on Friday at 2:30 in Alameda. Carrillo also assisted on Sebastian Cachol’s two second-half goals.

Kelseyville put two early goals on the board in the first half as Carrillo gave the Knights a 2-0 halftime lead that would never be threatened. Luis Alvarado also had an assist in the win.

“I’m convinced that was our best game of the year, and what a time to pull that rabbit out of the hat,” Kelseyville head coach Kc White said. “Everything was so connected and locked in. The passing was great, the defense was better, and the play by my keeper, Diego Serrato Hernandez, was even better than that. We were methodical in every way. My studs showed up today (Carrillo and Cacho).”

Carrillo’s first goal came in the 21st minute when he used his speed to beat the defender after receiving a through ball from Cacho. He scored again in the 30th minute on another feed from Cacho.

“That goal gave us some breathing room going into halftime, but I reminded my guys that we were up 2-0 last week against Lower Lake and had to score to get a tie. I’m proud to say we did not let up tonight.”

The first of Cacho’s two goals in the second half came in the 52nd minute on the first of two assists by Carrillo. Cacho’s scored again with a Carrillo assist in the 59th minute.

“We continued to pressure through the end of the game, even with my reserves playing in the latter parts of the game,” White said. “Julian Arias stood out as he had a couple of great shots in the later stages of the game that were both saved by the keeper.”

Added White, “Overall, pleased that I got to get everyone in the game today. The playoffs are a very fun experience; it’s obviously way better at home. Hopefully the guys will remember getting to get into the game.”

Looking ahead now to the quarterfinals, White said, “We are just taking it one game at a time right now, enjoying the moment. I have a lot of seniors that understand the stakes. With our main goal accomplished (winning league), we can set our sights higher with absolutely no pressure. We are the underdogs on Friday and we play really well when that is the case.”

The quarterfinal-round game takes place at Estuary Park in Alameda.

Kelseyville returns to action Friday against No. 2 seed OMI in quarterfinals Lake County Sports on Facebook KELSEYVILLE >> Jair Inostroza Carrillo was involved in all four of Kelseyville’s goals Wednesday night as the Knights shut out the Calistoga Wildcats 4-0 in the opening round of the North Coast Section Division 2 boys soccer playoffs […]

[53,6,17
