{"id":4429,"date":"2025-10-21T22:13:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T22:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=4429"},"modified":"2025-10-21T22:13:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T22:13:12","slug":"westshore-varsity-wins-35-0-improves-to-9-0","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=4429","title":{"rendered":"Westshore varsity wins 35-0, improves to 9-0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Pasalo scores four touchdowns for Cardinals in rout of Sonoma<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LAKEPORT &gt;&gt; The Westshore Cardinals moved to within a win of a perfect regular season with a 35-0 victory over the Sonoma Dragons in the varsity division of the Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League on Saturday night in Lakeport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Westshore (9-0) scored all the points it would need on a John Pasalo 34-yard touchdown run. Isiah McCloud\u2019s conversion kick made it 8-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After taking over on downs later in the first quarter, Pasalo again scored on a 34-yard run. The conversion kick boosted Westshore\u2019s lead to 16-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pasalo\u2019s third touchdown of the game, on a 45-yard run, and a conversion pass from Nathan Heath to Dillon Egan following a bad snap on the conversion kick, put the Cardinals\u2019 lead at 23-0. Javon Evans then intercepted a Sonoma pass and returned it 57 yards for a touchdown and a 29-0 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sonoma opened the second half with an onside kick that Westshore recovered. The Cardinals quickly marched down the field and scored on a Pasalo 10-yard run for a 35-0 lead. The mercy rule went into effect at that point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pasalo rushed for 168 yards on only six carries, four of those touchdowns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jake Hayes anchored the defense with eight solo tackles followed by Michael Knight Jr. with four. Evans had three tackles and an interception return for the touchdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur kids played great, they definitely put on a show for our eighth-grade night,\u201d Westshore head coach Sid Percaccio said. \u201cSonoma has some very good athletes on their team and they are very well coached.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sonoma is 4-5 on the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Westshore travels to Kelseyville (5-4) next Saturday to close out the regular season.
