The team scored five goals in the first eight minutes and really put the game away early on.”

Nine different Knights scored, including a hat trick by Sebastian Cacho and two goals from Gerardo Garcia. Julio Lopez, Jake Smart, Adrian Carrillo, Alex Jimenez, Ivan Carrillo, Omar Mercado Marquez and Emmanuel Arias also scored.

Luis Alvarado finished with four assists.

“Sebastian Cacho completed his hat trick and Luis Alvarado got all four of his assists in the first five goals,” White said. “Those two, and a handful of other guys, came out after 10 minutes to make way for the reserves.”

Garcia’s two goals were the first two of his career as he normally plays defense for the Knights. Ivan Carrillo, a senior transfer from Willits and then Clear Lake, and senior defender Arias also scored their first career goals.

“My reserves played most of the game today, which is really important for their development as many of them will be back next year playing the bulk of the minutes,” White said. “That was a positive of playing in the winter; when able, we could have a JV team and they would get some more game action. Playing in the fall, most of the teams barely have enough (players) to field a varsity team (Upper Lake suited up 12 today). Credit to Coach Thomas (Santana) and his team. They never gave up today. They played hard and even created a couple of really good opportunities.”

With the remainder of Kelseyville’s league games at home, White said he feels good about where the Knights stand entering the final two weeks of the regular season.

“We know that every goal we had at the beginning of the season is still in front of us,” White said.

Besides Alvarado’s four assists, Marquez, Cameron Smith, Ivan Carrillo and Gustavo Garcia Cornejo also had assists.

Sebastian Cacho has hat trick, Luis Alvarado four assists in league road victory Lake County Sports on Facebook UPPER LAKE >> A five-goal burst in the first eight minutes sent the Kelseyville Knights to a 12-0 North Central League I win over the Upper Lake Cougars in varsity boys soccer action Tuesday in Upper Lake.
