{"id":4074,"date":"2025-09-27T21:56:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-27T21:56:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=4074"},"modified":"2025-09-29T17:33:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T17:33:08","slug":"knights-fall-to-st-helena-53-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=4074","title":{"rendered":"Knights fall to St. Helena 53-23"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Kelseyville plays competitive first half against Saints; Knights JVs win 33-13<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KELSEYVIL0LE &gt;&gt; A wildly competitive first half during which Kelseyville held 16-13 and 23-19 leads gave way to St. Helena domination in the second half as the visiting Saints beat the Knights 53-23 in North Central League I varsity football action at Kelseyville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville (0-2 league, 0-3 overall) spotted St. Helena (3-0, 5-0) a 13-0 lead before answering with 16 straight points. The Saints moved back in front 19-16 before the Knights scored against for a 23-19 advantage. St. Helena went into halftime up 25-23 after scoring with 38 seconds left in the second quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Knights\u2019 three first-half touchdowns were scored by quarterback Max Lee on a keeper, running back Andrew Souza on a 65-yard run, and a 44-yard touchdown pass from Lee to Hugh O\u2019Boyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lee rushed for 79 yards on 16 carries while Souza finished with 73 yards on 10 carries. Lee was 6-for-14 passing for 97 yards with a TD and three interceptions, two of them returned for touchdowns by the Saints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Knights also scored a safety when St. Helena snapped the ball out of the end zone on a punt attempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian Garcia again anchored the Kelseyville defense with four solo tackles and seven assists while Milez Gambria added three solo tackles and six assists. Souza, and Logan Farfan-Boyles each had three tackle and three assists. Farfan-Boyles also forced a fumble recovered by Gambria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville entered play minus veteran running back Michael DeJohn, who is recovering from an injury, and came out of the game even more banged up as lineman Elijah Watkins sustained a knee injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Knights remain home next Friday to play Cloverdale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the junior varsity game, Kelseyville defeated St. Helena 33-13 to improve to 1-0-1 in league play. Case Pivniska had a big game for the Knights, Pivniska rushing for two touchdowns and 64 yards overall, and returning an interception for another score.
