We got away from what we do best and started playing the type of game Willits wanted us to play. The last 20 minutes were played at our pace and style, and the difference was very evident.”

Jake Smart’s assist set up Carrillo’s first goal, that coming in the 10th minute for a 1-0 Kelseyville lead.

“As far as good soccer in the first half, that was the extent,” White said. “We played a lot of kick ball.”

The absence of Gerardo Garcia from the Kelseyville lineup definitely hurt the Knights, according to White.

“He had a minor injury yesterday in practice and we held him out as a precaution,” White said of Garcia, who starts on the back line for the Knights. “We had to move Luis Alvarado to play center back today, which led to holes in the middle. Luis is such a good distributor. He really sets everything up for us.”

The Knights continued to struggle throughout the first 20 minutes of the second half before things began to fall into place. Rico’s assist set up Carrillo’s second goal of the game in the 59th minute.

“From that point on, we were on it,” White said.

Cacho knocked one in from the box after taking a cross from Omar Mercado Marquez to give Kelseyville a 3-0 lead in the 67th minute. Four minutes later Rico completed the scoring with an assist from Cacho.

“That goal was pretty and most welcomed,” White said. “Diego has been working so hard, and the shots just have not been finding the back of the net. He finally broke through today and got the monkey off his back.”

Carrillo has six goals in his last four games for the Knights.

“This is his first year playing with me,” White said. “His main love is basketball, so when we made the switch (from winter soccer) to the fall, I begged him to play. He is one of those athletic guys who could play any sport and be the best player out there.”

Kelseyville is off until next Tuesday when it travels to Middletown for a 4:30 p.m. game with the Mustangs.

In other boys soccer action Tuesday:

Fort Bragg 4, Upper Lake 1

At Upper Lake, the Upper Lake Cougars fell to the Fort Bragg Timberwolves (2-0-1, 9-4-2) in NCL I play.

Jaden Nunez scored for the Cougars (0-4, 3-9) with an assist from Eric Tinoco. Alan Alvarado had nine saves.

“We played hard against a great team,” Upper Lake head coach Thomas Santana said. “They move the ball well and found the holes in our defense. We struggled to gain a lot of attack in the first half.”

After falling behind 3-0, Santana said the Cougars decided to change things up.

“We started creating more offense when I moved Jaden from midfield to striker, and moved my right mid, Emmanual Tapia, to center mid,” Santana said. “Emmanuel was creating more movement for us in the mid and the offense started to open up.”

Upper Lake’s goal came in the 79th minute when Tinoco crossed the ball to Nunez.

“Our keeper, Alan Alvarado, had a great game,” Santana said. “He had nine saves and received high praise from the Fort Bragg coach and players for his performance.”

Upper Lake hosts Willits on Thursday at 6:15 p.m.

Jair Inostroza Carrillo scores two more goals for Kelseyville in victory over Willits Lake County Sports on Facebook WILLITS >> Two more goals from a red-hot Jari Inostroza Carrillo along with single goals from teammates Sebastian Cacho and Diego Rico helped lift the Kelseyville Knights to a 4-0 victory over the Willits Wolverines in North […]

[53,58,6,17,15,57
