Clear Lake girls, Middletown teams come up short<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

LAKEPORT >> Rylee Zimmerschied\u2019s goal midway through the first half was all the offense Upper Lake needed to beat the Lower Lake Trojans 1-0 in non-league varsity girls soccer action Friday afternoon in Lakeport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upper Lake was the host team but the game was played in Lakeport because the Cougars\u2019 field is under repair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cougars made a winner of Kathleen O\u2019Rourke in her debut as head coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDespite having no subs and playing in 100-degree weather we managed to secure a 1-0 victory,\u201d O\u2019Rourke said. \u201cThough Rylee got the goal, Lexy Peregrina and Grace Abreu provided strong support ton offense that set up the shot.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Added O\u2019Rourke, \u201cOur offense kept the pressure up all game, and we had several nice looks, but the Lower Lake keeper was able to make some nice saves to keep the score at 1.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saphira Hughes and Yadira Beecher anchored the Upper Lake defense along with keeper Leyla Marcks, according to O\u2019Rourke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was certainly a team effort with no one being able to be subbed off,\u201d O\u2019Rourke said. \u201cAll the girls played well and worked together, which allowed us to keep the narrow lead and secure the win.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n


O\u2019Rouke also praised the overall play of the Trojans (0-2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLower Lake played a great game and it was overall a great season opener,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Both teams return to action Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. when Upper Lake visits Kelseyville while Lower Lake hosts Point Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other girls soccer action Friday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technology 3, Clear Lake 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Rohnert Park, Clear Lake (1-2) lost to host Technology in the opening round of the Technology Tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was a very rough game for us,\u201d Clear Lake head coach Gustavo Carbajal said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hailey Perez scored the Cardinals\u2019 goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clear Lake played South Fork on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in another tournament game. The Cardinals are then off until Sept. 2 at Upper Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Credo 2, Middletown 0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Rohnert Park, Credo blanked Middletown (0-1) in the Mustangs\u2019 season opener. No other details were reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown hosts Calistoga on Monday at 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Credo 5, Middletown 0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Rohnert Park, Credo spoiled Middletown\u2019s season opener as the Mustangs were shut out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
