They set school single-season scoring records – Moore with 616 points and Hoogendoorn with 599 – for starters. Hoogendoorn also became the school’s all-time scoring leader with 1,562 points, the sixth-best career total in Lake County history.

Moore’s and Hoogendoorn’s individual success also translated into team success. Middletown’s boys (24-8) set a school record for most wins in a single season while finishing third in the North Coast Section Division 4 playoffs, all three of their playoff wins coming against Division 2 opponents who were dropped into the Division 4 bracket. Their only loss was to St. Patrick/St. Vincent of Vallejo, the eventual section champion. The Mustangs advanced to the NorCal playoffs for the first time in school history and lost a hard-fought 70-63 decision to Weed.

Middletown’s girls finished 21-6 overall and reached the quarterfinals of the Division 3 playoffs.

Hoogendoorn and Moore were both named co-MVPs on their respective All-League teams as selected by the NCL I coaches.

And it wasn’t just basketball that made Hoogendoorn and Moore stand out in a crowd.

Mia Hoogendoorn

Hoogendoorn earned All-League first team honors during the volleyball season as the Mustangs finished a solid third (10-4) in the final league standings and qualified for the North Coast Section playoffs. They finished 21-9 overall despite changing head coaches early on in league play.

After helping lead the Mustang to a co-league championship in basketball, Hoogendoorn contributed to another league-championship team as the school’s varsity girls track team repeated as NCL I champions. Her best event was the high jump.

Hoogendoorn isn’t the first member of her family to be nominated for Athlete of the Year honors. Older brother Luke, a four-sport standout for the Mustangs, won the award following the 2021-22 sports season.

Bodhi Moore

If Moore dominated on the basketball court, his play on the golf links was no less impressive. While the Mustangs didn’t win a third straight NCL I championship, Moore was in a class of his own during the 2025 Coastal Mountain Conference South golf season, shooting the low round at every CMC South match. The conference’s low scorer advanced to the North Coast Section playoffs where he fired an 81 and missed the cut by three strokes.

Moore was the hands-down MVP on the All-CMC South golf team.

Sponsor

The Lake County Adult Softball Association is sponsoring the awards for the Athlete of the Year and Coach of the Year winners, who will be announced later this month.

Middletown High seniors left it all on the basketball court Lake County Sports on Facebook LAKE COUNTY >> Middletown High School graduated seniors Mia Hoogendoorn and Bodhi Moore are finalists for the Lake County Sports Athlete of the Year award based on their many accomplishments during the 2024-25 high school sports season.
