{"id":3242,"date":"2025-05-07T15:56:17","date_gmt":"2025-05-07T15:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=3242"},"modified":"2025-05-07T15:56:17","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T15:56:17","slug":"trojans-blank-cougars-in-ncl-i-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=3242","title":{"rendered":"Trojans blank Cougars in NCL I action"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>St. Helena, Fort Bragg varsity baseball teams post lopsided road wins<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UPPER LAKE &gt;&gt; The Lower Lake Trojans shut out the Upper Lake Cougars 8-0 in North Central League I varsity baseball action Tuesday afternoon in Upper Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leading 1-0 after two innings, the Trojans (4-7 league, 4-11 overall) scored four times in the top of the third, taking advantage of a handful of Upper Lake errors, both physical and mental, to build a 5-0 lead advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe were playing well, pitching well, but we had that one dreaded inning,\u201d Upper Lake head coach Don Meri said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Losing pitcher Tyler Collins worked five innings, allowing six runs on five hits. He struck out four and walked one. Collins also had two of the Cougars\u2019 three hits while Landen Robinson had the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophomore first baseman Mason Parker turned in some solid glove work for the Cougars, according to Meri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s going to be a good one,\u201d Meri said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upper Lake (0-12, 3-14) hosts Middletown on Friday before closing out its season Tuesday at Cloverdale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower Lake did not report its games stats to Lake County Sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other NCL I action Tuesday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>St. Helena 11, Middletown 3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Middletown, the St. Helena Saints broke open a 4-3 game with a six-run fifth inning while handing the Middletown Mustangs a sixth straight league loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown (2-9, 4-14-1) held a 3-0 lead after two innings. St. Helena (8-4, 16-6) surged in front to stay with a four-run top of the third against losing pitcher Jon Hawkins. The Saints put the game away with a six-run fifth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hawkins worked the first four innings, allowing eight hits and six earned runs, striking out seven and walking three. He also had two of the Mustangs\u2019 seven hits, including a double and two RBIs. Cody de Jong (1-for-2) knocked in the team\u2019s other run. Austin Davis, Landon Pisaro, John Finney and Cody Perez had Middletown\u2019s other hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Julian Earls went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs for the Saints. Winning pitcher Huck Anderson helped his own cause by going 2-for-5. Anderson struck out eight and walked one during his five innings on the mound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown visits Lower Lake on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fort Bragg 15, Cloverdale 1 (5 inn.)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Cloverdale, the Fort Bragg Timberwolves moved to within a game of first-place Kelseyville atop the league standings with a five-inning victory at Cloverdale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Bragg (10-2, 16-3) controls its own destiny entering the homestretch.
