{"id":3161,"date":"2025-04-30T15:47:43","date_gmt":"2025-04-30T15:47:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=3161"},"modified":"2025-04-30T15:47:43","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T15:47:43","slug":"middletown-tennis-goes-undefeated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=3161","title":{"rendered":"Middletown tennis goes undefeated"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Mustangs close out 12-0 season with 4-1 victory at Cloverdale<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CLOVERDALE &gt;&gt; Capping a perfect season, the Middletown High School tennis team completed a 12-0 run Tuesday afternoon with a 4-1 road victory over the Cloverdale Eagles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s the second straight year coach Tony Hart\u2019s Mustang have claimed the Coastal Mountain Conference North championship, led by conference most valuable player Will Hoskins, first-team selection Harrison Brown, and honorable mentions Anthony Lopez and Leland Pike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe were a little rusty yesterday having just come off spring break,\u201d Hart said. \u201cWill was challenged at times and Dylan (Sanchez, of Cloverdale) pushed him by playing great.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoskins beat Sanchez 6-4, 6-3 in first singles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cloverdale\u2019s lone win came in second singles where Edgar Arellano rallied for a 3-6, 7-5 (10-8), 6-3 win over Brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHarrison dropped his first match of the year,\u201d Hart said. \u201cHe had trouble making his shots and Edgar played well by coming to the net. Harrison could not find the shot to get past him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lopez beat Andrea Goana 6-2, 6-3 in third singles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnthony got back in the win column and played well,\u201d Hart said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville\u2019s double teams posted straight-set wins.
