Mustangs win three out of four divisions at Rancho Cotate High School<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ROHNERT PARK >> Middletown High School\u2019s varsity girls, frosh-soph girls and frosh-soph boys all scored team wins Wednesday during Coastal Mountain Conference track and field action at Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown\u2019s varsity boys placed second behind meet host Technology. Other competing teams were Cloverdale, Sonoma Academy, Laytonville, Grace Christian and Summerfield Waldorf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Varsity girls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown\u2019s varsity girls finished with 170 points to Sonoma Academy\u2019s 125, Technology\u2019s 69.5, Cloverdale\u2019s 52.5, Grace Academy\u2019s 22, Summer Waldorf\u2019s 16 and Laytonville\u2019s 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe meet was hand-timed, so while these results are already rounded up to the nearest tenth of a second, some of the races have an additional conversion to be added,\u201d Middletown head coach Wyatt Hall said. \u201cI mention this because the listed time for Makayla Mace in the 100 (meters) of 12.6 (seconds) would be a school record, but the converted time would list 12.84 as her official time, which is just shy of the record.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mace had another productive day for the Mustangs, winning the pole vault (8 feet even) and placing second in the 100 (12.84), 200 (26.0) and 100-meter hurdles (16.3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMace\u2019s converted time for the hurdles is 16.54, which improves the school record she broke last week,\u201d Hall said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Krystal Ocken added a pair of firsts, winning the shotput (32-11) and discus (85-2 1-2). Crystal Duval was second in the shotput (25-9 \u00be) and Madeline de la Torre took second in the discus (80-2 \u00bd).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor this meet I had a lot of athletes perform well,\u201d Hall said. \u201cIt was the best weather we have seen all season. For this meet, I am proud of my throwers. Nearly all of them hit a PR (personal record), with many getting new bests in both events. Maddy de la Torre and Crystal Duval are two first-year throwers. Both of them stepped up to the better competition. We took four of the five top spots in the discus and three of the top five in the shotput.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Added Hall, \u201cIt was great to see the sportsmanship while watching the throwers. Any PR from any team was cheered on by the other athletes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list of Middletown standouts included Isa Barnes, who finished second in the high jump (4-4) and 300 hurdles (54.2) as well as third in the long jump (14-0) and 100 hurdles (17.3); 400 winner Bailey Smith (1 minutes, 6.2 seconds), with teammate Veronica Daughtery taking second (1:10.9); and Cora Krick, who was third in the 300 hurdles (57.7).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown\u2019s 4×400 relay team of Daughtery, Smith, Cat Barriga and Sophie Yebra also placed second (4:49.1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Varsity boys<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technology finished first with 224.5 points to Middletown\u2019s 118.5, Cloverdale\u2019s 98 \u00bc, Sonoma Academy\u2019s 89, Laytonville\u2019s 15 \u00be, and Grace Christian\u2019s 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown won the pole vault as Bryan Sanchez cleared 10-6, and the 4×800 relay of Sanchez, Ren Ueno, Isaac Lozada and Landon Pisaro finished in 10:03.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second-place finishes went to Bryton Caviness in the pole vault (9-0), Chris Lawson in the discus (87-7 \u00bd), and Jay-J Gerst in the shotput (35-5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Placing third were Caviness in the high jump (5-4),Marlon Martin Del Campo in the shotput (33-0), Marlin Broussard in the 300 hurdles (59.4), Kayden Menzio in the 3,200 (11:49.2), and Ueno in the 1,600 (5:05.8).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frosh-soph girls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown\u2019s Jolene Holley posted firsts in the 200 (29.1) and high jump (4-4), Emma Stark won both the 100 hurdles (21.2) and 300 hurdles (1:04.8), and Jadyn Owens took firsts in the shotput (20-0) and long jump (11-10). Allyson Cherry also won the pole vault (6-6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHolley is another athlete dual-sporting with track and softball,\u201d Hall said. \u201cShe has been steadily improving and continues to show great potential. For her high jump, she was able to get 4-4 by scissor kicking. As soon as she learns the technique, she has the potential to go much higher.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frosh-soph boys<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown\u2019s Jamisen Jackson and Jose Ramirez-Walle dominated the frosh-soph boys division. Jackson won the 100 (11.6), 200 (25.0) and tied teammate Cale McLean in the high jump (5-4) while Ramirez-Walle won the shotput (32-11) and discus 76-9 \u00bc). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJackson is getting faster and faster each week, and his high jump technique is really starting to develop,\u201d Hall said. \u201cJose Ramirez-Walle won both the shot put and discus with new PRs. Ramirez is only a sophomore, but he has become one of the leaders for my throwers, both by setting good examples and mentoring the newer throwers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zachary Norris also won two events for the Mustangs, topping the field in the 400 (1:03.9) and the pole vault (7-0).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown returns home Wednesday to host Clear Lake, Kelseyville, Willits, St. Helena and Calistoga.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
