{"id":2941,"date":"2025-04-10T13:51:47","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T13:51:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2941"},"modified":"2025-04-10T13:52:18","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T13:52:18","slug":"stillmans-walk-off-single-lifts-wildcats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2941","title":{"rendered":"Stillman&#8217;s walk-off single lifts Wildcats"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Upper Lake, Obsidian, Terrace win in middle school softball action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UPPER LAKE &gt;&gt; One out away from being the losing pitcher in what would have been an 8-7 Mountain Vista victory, Upper Lake\u2019s Bella Stillman re-wrote the ending of this game script, smacking a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning for a walk-oA 9-8 victory over the Lancers in middle school softball action Wednesday afternoon in Upper Lake.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stillman made herself the winning pitcher in the process as she worked all six innings for the Wildcats, striking out 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cIt was a great win today, but our girls have to keep their heads in the game because we got more opponents to face that we haven\u2019t seen yet,\u201d Upper Lake head coach Derick Hughes said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelseyville also received a complete-game effort from its pitcher, Paelynn Beall.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPaelynn pitched pretty well, but our defense didn\u2019t help her today,\u201d Mountain Vista head coach Patrick Mick said. \u201cWe made way too many fielding and throwing errors. Silly mistakes on the basepaths didn\u2019t help either, costing us at least three or four runs.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stillman not only ended up with the pitching win for Upper Lake, but she went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs at the plate. Marina Quiett (3-for-4), Jordyn Parker (2-for-3, double) and Charlie Robbins (2-for-3, double) also hit the ball well for the Wildcats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Mountain Vista, Beall, Brooke PoA, Madi Byrne, Gabby Keyes and Carly Gleason each had two hits. Mountain Vista hosts Fort Bragg on Monday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other middle school softball action Wednesday:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Obsidian 5, Lucerne 0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Clearlake Oaks,Eden Sparks went 2-for-2 with a standup triple and a RBI and Zeanna Carver went 2-for-3 with a RBI as the Obsidian Bears shut out Lucerne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winning pitcher Alison Bobbitt struck out 13 and walked four while pitching a complete game for the Bears. Angelina Gozony went the distance for Lucerne, striking out eight.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEven though our bats weren\u2019t connecting, our defense improved since our last game,\u201d Lucerne head coach Fred Miller said, citing the strong play in the field from catcher Ally Abreu, shortstop Sophie Basurto, third baseman Aliana Smith and first baseman Chevelle Sprague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sprague and Lola Kelly had hits for Lucerne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOverall we cleaned up our defense and everyone stayed engaged,\u201d Obsidian head coach Luis Perez said of the Bears\u2019 performance. \u201cSometimes it\u2019s the little things that matter the most.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obsidian catcher Lexi Mitchell gunned down would-be base stealers with throws to second baseman Sparks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Analayah Beck had a hit for the Bears.
