{"id":2863,"date":"2025-04-05T17:50:22","date_gmt":"2025-04-05T17:50:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2863"},"modified":"2025-04-05T17:50:22","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T17:50:22","slug":"knights-dominate-in-singles-play","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2863","title":{"rendered":"Knights dominate in singles play"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Kelseyville tennis team beats Willits, improves to 5-1 in conference play<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WILLITS &gt;&gt; Kelseyville High School\u2019s Maddy Borghesani, Riley Lopez and Olivia Raabe all won in straight sets during the Knights\u2019 4-1 Coastal Mountain Conference win over the Willits Wolverines on Friday in Willits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll three singles players won in convincing fashion and were never threatened,\u201d Kelseyville head coach Andy Dobusch said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Borghesani and Lopez both won 6-0, 6-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNice, straight-forward match (for Maddy),\u201d Dobusch said. \u201cGood rallies against an athletic opponent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lopez\u2019s victory in second singles was more of the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBack in action after a week abroad, Riley didn\u2019t miss a beat,\u201d Dobusch aid. \u201cI\u2019m sure he lost a few points during the match, I just didn\u2019t see them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raabe won 6-1, 6-0 in third singles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShoutout to Olivia Raabe for competing in her first singles match,\u201d Dobusch said. \u201cShe served well and had several aces to add to her growing total.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Olivia Bushey and Brooklyn Young provided the Knights with another win in first doubles, 6-3, 6-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fun to watch their level improve week to week,\u201d Dobusch said. \u201cThey\u2019re getting more consistent and confident.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lilly O\u2019Bryan and Brooklyn Smith fell 6-4, 6-4 in second doubles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is the first match for these two first-year players,\u201d Dobusch said. \u201cI was happy they got the chance to step up and play. They\u2019re just learning the game and had a very competitive match.
