{"id":2853,"date":"2025-04-05T00:29:22","date_gmt":"2025-04-05T00:29:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2853"},"modified":"2025-04-05T00:29:22","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T00:29:22","slug":"mtown-lower-lake-track-teams-compete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2853","title":{"rendered":"M&#8217;town, Lower Lake track teams compete"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>They join Fort Bragg, Technology in four-team meet at Lower Lake High School<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LOWER LAKE &gt;&gt; Lower Lake High School hosted a four-team Coastal Mountain Conference meet Wednesday afternoon at Gordon Sadler Field and the Fort Bragg Timberwolves won both in varsity boys and girls team scoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was a long meet for us,\u201d Middletown head coach Wyatt Hall said. \u201cFort Bragg and Lower Lake are the largest teams in the league although Fort Bragg has over 100 athletes, so they are on a whole other level.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Bragg\u2019s varsity boys and girls teams still had their hands full. The Timberwolf boys scored a meet-best 95 points to Technology\u2019s 89, Middletown\u2019s 38.5 and Lower Lake\u2019s 23.5. In the varsity girls division, Fort Bragg finished with 90 points to Middletown\u2019s 85, Lower Lake\u2019s 39 and Technology\u2019s 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among junior varsity teams, Fort Bragg won the boys division while Lower Lake won the girls division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Varsity boys<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown\u2019s Bryan Sanchez won the pole vault in a school-record 11 feet, 7 inches, breaking the old mark of 11-6 that Sanchez shared with Ian Bright (2015).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mustangs picked up another first in the discus where Seth Watson topped the field with a throw of 121-9. Lower Lake\u2019s Jorge Carlos placed third in 108-7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower Lake scored a pair of firsts as well. Ashton Hartmann won the triple jump in 37-2 while the Trojans\u2019 4&#215;100-meter relay team of Jimmy Shankles, Hadley Mick, Christian Rodriguez and Jeremiah Lopez came in first in 45.49 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earning second-place finishes were Middletown\u2019s Marlon Martin Del Campo in the shotput (33-6 \u00bc) and the Middletown 4&#215;400 relay team of Sanchez, Alexander Gonzalez, Quinn Murray and Landon Pisaro in 4 minutes, 4.87 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thirds went to Sanchez in the 400 (56.95 seconds), Lower Lake\u2019s Lopez in the 100 (11.76), Middletown\u2019s Richard Ramos in the 800 (2:26.83), and Middletown\u2019s Jay-J Gerst in the shotput (31-9 \u00bd).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Varsity girls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown\u2019s Makayla Mace won the 100 meters (13.32) while also finishing second and setting a school record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.12. The old Middletown record of 17.26 belonged to Amber Hart (2012). Mace also anchored the Mustangs\u2019 third-place 4&#215;100 relay team (56.07), joining teammates Thira Hoage, Mia Hoogendoorn and Cassandra Padilla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mustangs\u2019 Cat Barriga kept plenty busy too, winning the 1,600 (6:08.25), taking second in the 800 (2:47.48), and running a leg on Middletown\u2019s first-place 4&#215;400 relay team, joining Veronica Daughtery, Sophie Yebra and Bailey Smith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Smith added another first in the 400 (1:06.85) while teammate Daughtery came in third (1:11.85).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown\u2019s Krystal Ocken won both the shotput (31-10 \u00bd) and discus (83-11) while teammate Taylor Thompson placed second in both events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Isa Barnes also had a big day for the Mustangs, winning the long jump (14-4 \u00be), finishing second in the 300 hurdles (53.12), and taking third in the 100 hurdles (17.31).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also for Middletown, Padilla finished second in the 100 (13.98), Yebra placed third in the 1,600 (6:24.27), Alivia Stark finished third in the discus (64-0), and Daughtery was third in the long jump (12-8).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Lower Lake, the Trojans swept the 200-meter run.
